State of the industry - 2021

Just saw someone advertising their squarenose for $5500 with a guy over 1000 miles away asking if it was available. If that doesn't tell you the state of the industry in 2021, I don't know what will. I remember just a few short years ago I bought my first superjet for $1000 and that was the average.. People are insane.

I've recently seen some 650sx's for sale for over 3k! Another trying to sell a bone stock 2020 sj for 12k! How do you justify that kind of pricing? 12k is almost double original MSRP. "They dont make them anymore" isnt justification enough. Quit playin.
$8499, plus tax and any kind of setup fees and you could walk out of a dealer for close to 10k. This stuff is sure a lot more expensive than what it was, but there aren't many other options. You just can't go to any dealer and buy any stand up now.

Yeah that's for a brand new, never owned or titled ski. Cant ask that much for a used ski. Besides, when you buy one new from the dealer, you cant incorporate the "new ski" dealer fees in your used ski price when selling as an individual. You made that choice buying new. As a consumer i could care less about you having to pay dealer fees. I mean I suppose you can and maybe you'll get lucky and find a sucker. But I personally like to sleep well at night haha

My favorite justification is " man screw off I'm trying to sell this to build another ski so I can overprice it too!"

Ohh I know major inflation! Gotta pay for others to be lazy and sit on their ass somehow

Dont even mention trying to correct people on their ridiculousness they just yell and whine more cause they cant handle any challenge to justify the price

It's hard to put a price on a lot of these skis now. You can't really go back to historical pricing and hope your money will go as far.

It's interesting to see A/M hulls not go up in price (new or used) but stock Superjets pulling the premium.

Idiots.......

I'd say the only thing that's really going to affect pricing is a significant economic downturn. The majority of people buying are older now too I think, so they have more disposable income. Not many real young people in the sport.
Baby Doomers can't stop stealing from the future. Call them out. They're suppose to be retired on a beach somewhere, but they're still working into their 70s. (Biden)

The baby boomers I am working with; show up on time, do not complain nearly as much, and get more work done.. then again working yourself to death probably isn't great either..
