State of the industry.
Just talking with some of my friends about what’s going on in the industry. We’re facing some interesting times; no more 2 strokes made by Yamaha, high market demand of mainstream water craft, shortages of all kinds of parts, Factory pipe production???, and now MSD total loss going away. I just want to break this down by parts and get your input. I’m by no means an industry insider, just talk to a lot of people. Just shooting off the cuff to spark conversation and info sharing.
Hulls:
OEM Housings: Buddy and I have had some on order for 6 months. Who knows.
Exhaust
Point out some other areas of weakness.
This has got me thinking with the increased demand in mainstream products, our small sport may suffer. Aftermarket has opportunity to make up in some of these areas but who knows.
What are your thoughts?

Hulls:
- I’ve heard Rickter Edge hulls have their production que full for 2021, which is great for them. If anyone else knows about the availability of their other hulls, feel free to chime in.
- Tigercraft has been making a bunch of hulls and I hear of 4 month wait time is pretty typical. Not sure where they are today.
- Lee Stone products Revolver Pro series is hot now, and apparently a long wait time.
- Dasa is back up making motors again, so that’s good.
- TPE is supported by Paul Lehr and we can hope for more great things to come here. I’m expecting great things. Lots of stock, shorter wait times, great service (per usual). TPE pistons and other accessories stocked by Paul now.
- Xscream and Phil Clemmens put out a 1015cc 10 mil stroke, but unsure of future production.
- Paul Lehr, Jetmaniac offer porting services
- Crankshafts: Competitive Crankworks in Idaho were great for me. I’ve heard Crankworks was quite a bit more expensive
- Anyone forsee any supply issues with 62T crank cases going into the future? Not sure how long Yamaha will stock those.
- Torrent still pumping out great stuff. Pumps, shafts, bearing kits, all top notch. Some of the high end stuff like the Ninja pump can have a long wait time.
- Skat trak pumps still available. A good option for light weight competitive design.
- I think the Silber pumps have stopped being produced.
- Xscream and Phil Clemmens made a new pump, don’t know any details
- Thrust tanks are no longer made. Those ones that fit well with laydown pipes. 4.5 gallon and what not, no longer made, hard to get
- Cold fusion 4.5 gallon tanks are Out of Stock, not sure if they’ll make anymore but hopefully. The best option when using a b pipe.
- Limited Slip tanks no longer being produced.
- RRP rear tanks have been in short supply. Not sure when you’ll be able to get them.
- I ordered two OEM tanks, one came quick, the other took 2 months. Don’t know if these will ever become short supply or not
- MSD total loss stuff (just today I heard about this) will no longer be available. Not sure the details of this, but read on another thread about circuit boards not available. Don’t know if this will eventually include the Enhancer CDI.
- Zealtonics new revision is out, smaller, no vampire draw. Heavier flywheels. Would be nice to get an aftermarket light flywheel for total loss
OEM Housings: Buddy and I have had some on order for 6 months. Who knows.
Exhaust
- Factory pipe has been pushing back production of b pipes from months. I’m thinking one or two more production run, then who knows. Wonder when they’ll phase it out with the 21 4 stroke Superjet out.
- RRP carbon pipes seem to come and go. Get one if you can if you need one.
- Power Factors always seem to be available, which is great.
- TNT are no longer made
