One of the Minnesota guys who is building a hull made a jig from an oem hull to locate his motor mounts. Build it off the bulkhead, starting with the midshaft bolts and it should be a piece of cake to set up your new hull.

I'm planning on using my motor to do it. I just wish it was lighter.

You beat me to it. I was going to say just drill the plates up for the mount mounts based on the engine and roughly where you think they should go. Look where mine are currently drilled up as well. Take note on my hull the sides are not the same distance from the center of the hull.

Ramjet told me to put washers under the motor mounts( temporary) to allow for the glue and glass over the plates..

do you know the bolt trick?

Chrome my a$$.

Why are you accounting for glue? Is it going to expand and change the height as it dries? The glass will raise it some if you glass them over but I don't understand how the glue will. I was thinking I would figure out some way to shim the plates in the center area, the glue them in at the ends and cut the middle out of the plates to save some weight. Then glass over them. How does that sound?

yes.. I have a trashed crank if you want it. Pay freight and it yours!

You need to account for glue, better to have your plates low. you can shim up, not down.

When your mocking things up . your not using glue.
when you install the motor mount plates , they are going to be glued in , therefore raising the height just a little.

heres a pic of a half motor I used for mocking up

The glue won't make a lot of difference but 0.030"-0.050" will be enough to throw the couplers out of alignment.
