That is exactly what I did on the pump tunnel pads on the 300SX pump install, I used washers between the pump and the mounts, then when you glass over the pads and do your final fairing you make up the difference of the washers. As for the glue taking up space this is correct, when using any epoxy based adhesive you want to bed the part in using plenty of glue, epoxy needs a gap to fill to be an effective adhesive.Squishing out the glue too much weakens the bond.

OK, I understand what you are saying now. But I don't plan to have any shims in the area I glue it. It will be shimmed in the middle of the plate and then the shims will be removed after I glue just the area under the motor mounts down. I'll also cut out the middle of the bedplates. Then there will be nothing but glue between the bedplates and the hull.

Not really sure what you are referring to here but you only shim under the mounts or between the mounts and the bedplate.

Here is what I mean: The layers will be hull/glue/bedplate/fiberglass/motor mounts/shims if needed/engine mount bracket.

What I am saying is that there will not be shims between the hull and bedplates to hold them in place. The glue will fill the entire area between the hull and the bedplate, therefore, there will be no "accounting for glue" in the height of the bedplate.

Sorry for the threadjack.

I believe you are using the term bedplate wrong , thats where the misunderstanding here is , the term bedplate usually refers to the parts that bolt to the engine and span to the engine mounts, not the aluminum pieces you are gluing to the hull.

I understand that I can shim up but not down. But I don't understand what you mean by account for glue.

Accounting for glue would keep you just a tad under,so when you glue those plates down it should bring it "up" to the right height.Make sence?

I fixed it.

Tested the handlepole bracket Sunday and looks l have a low spot on the front corner, right side.Measured about a 1/8" gap,so l'll put some more glass on that area to finish that up this week.

Also, installed my Snowsrx pump shoe on(nice product).l wanted to put the steering cable higher, but just not alot of room.l spent a couple of weeks on the pump and shoe alignment, cause it all starts from there.Chad really impressed me with the fact of the alignment on this area.Cause it all is starting to come together.lt is hard for me to understand why waternut recieved his in the shape he has shown us.Did these skis not come out of the same mold??? l'm just glad l got the kit instead of the "finished" product.l diff know what exactly is going on with mine.

Yeah your pump shoe looks like it fits a lot better than mine. Does your intake grate line up properly? Is your pump tunnel and the back of the chines wavey? Chips said his are good but mine are all distorted and wavey.

Berky listed a set for sale right after I glued my pieces in place , if I would have know I would have tried them , I think they would make it a little easier.

Looking good Sano! Glad to help.

No problem on the thread jack. This thread is all about picking up on each others builds!

The intake grate lines up just fine.Pump tunnel is smooth and so are the chines.l've been trying to figure out what is going on with yours.Seems really strange.Has Dan addressed this issue yet? The only thing that was a problem was where the pump bolts down, and l fixed that by grinding down in the front of the pump area, then adding glass to the inside.
