Dont know much about this but what about infa red or thermal images from your chopper ride? May show something if you cant visibly see it.
What is a thermal image going to show? The ski is at the same temperature as the water.

Stupid question here, but what is the advantage of removing the foam in the first place?
So we can run versa plug or drains in hull to keep hulls light as possible for every ride.
Whale Poop ...... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1017/1190300221_3b16c559a6.jpgNot worth it in my opinion...too many of them go down like whale turds.

So 10lbs of foam makes the difference between landing that flatwater backy or a 3/4 attempt? Doesn't seem worth it to me, especially since the prize is just bragging rights. Not hating here, just trying to understand, there only should have been 1 "sunk ski due to no foam thread" This is like the 4th one.
Possibly not, the black paint job may soak up more heat during a sunny day? Not looking for argument just trying to help.
