Custom/Hybrid SUPERFREAK talk

Getting the wife's Freak on. Not much to report that hasn't already been discussed. I have a beef with the 8 countersink 1/4" stainless screws/nylock nuts for the pole brackets. 7 of 8 galled and seized before I could get them fully tightened. Perhaps a thread pitch issue. Had to break one out of the hull. The rest I bench tested. Just waiting on Cold Fusion motor mounts and graphics. Thanks to Tem and Nancy!

Completely unrelated to anything, but I got the wild idea to try and vinyl wrap my freak this year, it was the worst idea I've ever had. Too many curves, we wasted hours of the day today to even get a reasonably acceptable end product, unsuccessfully. I had high hopes for the aesthetics of my freak this year but it just isn't working out.

Someone started a thread on here about mating up a fat bar cold fusion turnplate and a xmetal adj pole. But as always l can't find poop!

But anyway,l decided to take the turnplate and the adj piece on the pole to a machine shop and have them drill it out to just under a tad the size of the nylon washers.Seems simple to do but can you guys think of a reason NOT too?

Would appreciate some opinions!

Sorry you had a bad experience.A ski is better to let a pro do it.Way too much money tied up in the right kind of material!

Sorry to hear that Buck. The hood looks like a nightmare. We are going with a wrap too, However my guy is pretty confident he can pull it off. Do you know what type of vinyl you used?

And you "should" be using a marine grade material.Nothing else

The kind I used was oracal 951, absolute nightmare, maybe next year I'll get it done up right, and yeah it kind of sucked to wrap almost 700 and some change up in that material and the paint protectant/ clear bra I was going to use on the ski to keep it from getting scuffed up. Looks like a this year its either run what you brung or rattle can paint and maybe next year get it done right by a pro with the stuff I bought.

Both Ed and I are running RRP steering on the same adjustable pole with great results, easy mod to do on that combo. Riser bars are awesome on rid ability on these hulls.

No reason not to do that. You can then run oem or cf steering. You will still be able to drill/tap the 4 holes to run rrp, umi, etc. at a later date. You can run the cf with some rigging as is, but your solution is better.

As a side note, I have been working with xmetal to make the needed changes to their pole in the next run which will incorporate these changes and you will able to use steering from oem, cold fusion, rrp, umi, blowsion, etc. without any modifications.

I'm getting ready to redo my Freak footholds. For those that have turfed their own Freak what did you use as your padding program. I'm running 25mm on bottom with 8mm padding on top and they've been way too loose. I have 25mm pad I can put on top but I'm almost certain it's gonna b too thick. Has 2 layers of 8mm been enough or are u shaving down the 25mm?

Thanks for your opinion man!

And great advise to xmetal.Make things a lot easier.

Just for a side note as how easy it is to get ripped off.l took the adj piece out to several local machine shops.First guy l went to told me about another capable shop that would do an accurate job.So l go there and the clown says "man, that will take an hour to setup and then another hour to mill at (bend over and kiss your *** goodbye!) $75 an hour! He actually thought he was going to do the job! l ended up taking it to another shop that was as good and a whole lot less.Ya got to be on your toes all the time!
