Just to add, I love mine also, pain to build but damn fun to ride...

I would also buy the spring setup, wonder if it could be offset some to ease pressure on the tubes? The bolts could also have indexing pins if needed.

Hey another option might be this mounted directly under the pole, cylinder pivot just behind the breather holes and a ball mount up the underside of the pole so everything clears the hood. I took some rough measurments and it looks doable, just need to calculate the lift force needed to balance the pole out. http://www.mcmaster.com/#gas-springs/=jah53i I was looking at 4175T4 stainless

Figured I'd bump this old thread back up by sharing this absolute gem of superfreak knowledge:

Always work on a freak with the nose down. Best chance for recovering anything you drop! Especially when you have all the total-loss stuff crammed in the back!!!

You're welcome. :D

Was wondering what you guys do for towing with superfreak, can you drill and put a bow eye in the thin bond line on the rear of these carbon hulls? also,im getting a little water in the back of hull, since no foam is used, someone made me aware of little mini versa plugs that are used in rc boats, was wondering if putting them in would be a surf issue,If the ski gets away and is upside down, will air escape from the rear tray pocket and allow water in? There are chambers in the rear so im thinking not, might be better if it lets all the water out the rear during the ride to lessen chances of it sinking if it gets away and upside down?

Just read all 38 pages... I think it's awesome how many great things people have to say about them. Now I can't friggen wait until Saturday.... Picking up a 2010 to transfer my SJs heart and soul into. I'm actually glad "mine" is used, hopefully that saves me a little wrench work so I can get on the water ASAP.

When did they go from having that sexy little dip in the sides of the tray to a straight across design? Was 2010 the first year of the SF?

The one you're buying is likely a SF 1.5, they got rid of the swooping gunwales on the Badass model in 2011. I'm not sure on when the first SF was made but he was making hulls for XScream for a while then made a couple carbon SJs before designing the Superfreak

The one he's buying has a badass bottom deck. If he's buying the one I'm thinking of. It still has the swooping gunwales too, I think Tem said there was only 5 or 6 of this setup. But I believe the one he's buying is a "full length" which is a -1.5 or -2.

Jetmaniac's is a -1.25" RMBC Freeride bought his Superfreak as a true full length hull then shortened it -4.3" and mine is -2"
I think the standard/most common is -4.3" but wouldn't be considered full length. I thought full length was still full length. Maybe Tem changed his mold and no longer makes any longer than -4.3 but full length should still be full length I would think?
That's all referring to the Badass hull though... Maybe you're just referring to the SF 1.5?

Length is measured from the bulk head to the end of the rear running surfaces and referenced to that same measurement taken on a Superjet.

The one he's getting isn't a full badass, just the bottom deck. When he made this hull, a month or so later the actual badass came out. The hull he's buying was considered full length. But I thought tems "full length Superfreak" was technically a -2. Maybe I misunderstood how they were saying it the other week at blues house.
