Well guys, since Mr. Swapmeet's contest hasn't revealed who Mr. Brah is, I'd figure I'd help him out a little bit:
I sold Swapmeet the ski back last june, therefore that makes me "Mr. Brah" (*Gasp*)
Now before you all tear me a new one for whatever reason, hear me out and listen to my side of the story. You're probably wondering why I waited nine months to finally post in this thread. I guess I never really saw it necessary since swapmeet has made it out to look like I've been the bad guy and was out to screw someone: No. Not my intention at all, which leads into my story:
I joined this site November 2011 because I was interested in standup jetskis and wanted to learn more about them. After only two months, I was addicted and really wanted my own (been riding my uncles for years). So I decided to pick up my first ski using my hard earned summer money (I've been working on my family's dairy since I was 8, I'm 19 now). So I found a decent looking ski on craigslist nearby for a good price with quite a bit of aftermarket mods. Being young, ignorant and not wanting to listen to my father (who told me to buy a reliable stock ski), I went ahead and bought this 97 orange superjet. I was very excited to get it to the water, and the first 45 minute ride was awesome. Well when I went to go take it out the following week, low and behold it had seized a piston when I went to fire it up (even though I was told it had just been rebuilt). Well that was another 800 or so down the drain. After two months of waiting after tearing the ski apart, I got the motor back in and...air leak in the carbs. So I took it to a guy who has worked on our skis before, he fixed it for 350, and I could have tried the whole thing again, but I decided I was done with this ski. Everything was fixed, but I was demoralized from all the wasted time and money that I just wanted it all gone. So I parted everything out and sold everything. In the end I rode that ski for 45 minutes and worked on it for way too many hours and put way too much money into it.
So when it came time and I was going to part it, swapmeet had posted a wtb thread for an aftermarket hood for a superjet. I pm'd him telling him about the wamilton's one that was on my ski and how I might have a potential buyer for the hull, so I could sell him the hood. I don't quite remember the exact details next, but somehow the hull got thrown into the equation and he mentioned he might be interested if the other buyer backed out. Well the other buyer did, long story short I sent him the pm that is located on page 1 of 49 describing the ski to the best of my knowledge. I DID NOT ALTER THIS HULL IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT THROUGH THE DAY I SOLD IT. So for example, when I said that the engine bay was carbon reinforced, there was no way that I could have possibly known that it was not properly adhered to the fiberglass. And there was also no way for me to know that there would be a huge crack under the turf, and I did not see the one under the rear bond rail until pointed out in this thread. So basically what I'm trying to say is that I wasn't trying to screw swapmeet over or make a quick buck or anything like that. I never knew any of the problems in this hull because I did not do any of the mods to it. So in reality, I never made the money back on that first ski, I chalked it up to a life lesson and moved on.
So after that long life story, if you still have any questions for me or just want to call me a d*** or something, pm me. I'm honestly not a bad guy or a d-bag just because I'm from California. At first I thought it would be funny for swapmeet to come on here and call me Mr. Brah because its like stereotypical California slang or whatever. I didn't mind it, most people laughed, so I just went along with it. Obviously it had gotten to be almost as if Mr. Brah was taboo and some secret internet phantom that no one had ever seen. Anyways, just wanted to clear the air I was tired of people posting s*** about me and whatnot when they don't even know me.
Also, I would like to publicly apologize to Mr. Swapmeet for what I sold to him, even though I myself did not know any of the downfalls in this hull. If I would have known them, I would have told him. Simple as that. I sold the ski to the best of my knowledge and from the information that was given to me from the previous owner.
Good luck on the rest of your build swapmeet.
