I would go rear. Never liked side exhaust and your wife probably won't like the exhaust hitting her in the face when turning either.

The chance of a barrel roll happening with her at the helm is practically zero. So maybe I shouldn't worry about the exhaust outlet so much.

The amount of work that it will take to make it the way " You " want it to be and with the quality will probably be more of a hassle than reward. Cutting or bend the stock pipe and the resonator etc etc..plus you probably will always worry/wonder about the cavitation and bogging issues in the back of your mind...I'd put it back to the rear, let her ride it and enjoy it, if shes not doing any aggressive riding.. spend your money and labor on another area. Also when the next owner comes along..he will say WTF? was this a side exhuast setup? what the hell happened to this thing anyway..

I wouldn't think it would be in her face with how far back it is would it? Its not like front exhaust or anything.

My biggest issue is that if I go back to rear exhaust I have to repair the hole I just cut, not to mention that i've weakened that spot in the hull so now i'll have to add weight to properly repair it. Arrrg.

F-IT, Just leave the side exhaust... If and when she actually rolls it..so what maybe it cavitates and stalls...reward her accomplishment, then worry about it or sell the dam thing and upgrade which you will inevitably do anyways..

-Patiently awaiting the next BRAH clue....

This is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't things. Too far back and during tailstands it will cavitate. Further forward and it cavitates during slides. Even further forward and it's loud as hell and smoke gets in your face when idling.

If you place the exhaust too far forward on the side your exhaust gasses will find their way into your pump. I am riding SUPERJETT'S old Topdeck conversion ski. He placed the side exhaust a little too far forward and a little too low. Every sharp left turn or slide (turning and heading back toward your setup wake, sliding left with hood tricks) causes the pump to cavitate REALLY bad and you go nowhere. My short term solution was just put cap it off and make it a front exhaust for the time being, but its pretty loud even through my helmet.

Here are some pics from his build.... Notice the location, I think Swaps is far enough back to not cause any issues.

Regardless of the exhaust snafu the rest of the ski is great!!! I'm in love with the thing.

I honestly think the spot Swap put it will be fine.

I moved mine to just in front of the bulkhead under the rail. The only time smoke is in my face is when idling out with the wind blowing the wrong way. Rear outlet was nicer for general riding but tail stands are impossible. Just as you reach the tipping point the thrust goes away, engine revs, pump hooks and blasts the ski too high to recover. For guys can do it all, keep the rear and T in a 1.5" vent on the side. This removes any chance of landing induced back pressure and allows for tail stands.

I have a variety of reasons to explain why, but nobody wants to see why i'm not working. They want progress and gifs...
I hope/plan to get some things done in the next few days.

Get to work, son! Less gifs and more work!!!

Just Kidding.... Just Kidding....

Umm, You are getting a Backie Chan hull, aren't you? What are you going to do with this RN? I'm just thinking out loud. If that was already discussed, I obviously missed it.
