Team Scream (X-Scream) 701 ROCKS.

The Good Old Days
Just a little update mainly for my own record. Sorry for awakening the dead.

Well, my motor is now over 2 years old (guess I'm out of warranty by now) and the little sucker is still running like the first day I got it.
Fires up instantly, idles like a top and pulls like a mother with super crisp throttle response. Compression is exactly where it was at the beginning and the little motor is as maintenance free as can be. Add gas and play, what more can I ask for ? Hell, I haven't even changed the spark plugs since last years Daytona ride.
Love this little monster that Chucky built and I can't thank him enough for it.

Since last years update nothing major has happened other than some stripped splines on both shafts (thanks Jetmaniac). This was in late Jun while I was screwing around in my lake. All's well one minute than I found neutral.

That about sums up the last year of running my ski.

Mind you, I haven't had the time to ride as often as I used to but I still beat on my ski at least once a month.
No matter what I do to the motor , be it extended periods of WOT running through mangrove trails or plowing into the sand bars, the thing just runs.

Somewhat anticlimactic, I know but what can I say?
No explosions or fireworks here, just a drop dead reliable motor that has more than paid for it self in the amount of fun it delivered.

Once again, Thank you Chucky and the whole X-METAL crew for making my weekends fun and carefree. 2 years in and I'm still loving it.

Those carbs will work well on anything from a Baby Scream to a 1000cc power valve monster, according to Chuckie. Ask me in about 3 months or so when my lake is free from ice. I have the same setup as Boris, just haven't rode it yet.

dual 46 Mikunis on my 771cc and as Boris said one full season riding almost 2-3 week , no problems at all

The dual 46's Mod is great ,crisp and can grow with a bigger engine.

You are running dual 46's? That is a lot of carb for a 717cc IMHO..?

You couldn't be any further from the truth.

That setup is not only perfect but in my opinion a must have intake setup on this motor.
In my riding group we have 2 717's and 1 771 all running the same intake. All are strong and crisp from idle all the way up to WOT.
Best part is that our dual carbed motors use less fuel than the singles that try to keep up.

Chuckys setups work and that's all there is to it.

Bingo - complete setups done by one shop rock. No sense in adding crap on your own or second-guessing the builder.

My home away from home.
Thanks for the great read. Hopefully some time soon I'll be brappin one too. I was hoping this winter, but got stalled. If we get another big freeze, maybe I will still be able to do it by summer.

Get cold dammit! I need bonus bucks.

They do work well as long as the prop is shallow and the pilot/pop-off is plenty rich. I dont like them because they are too light switch for me. They are the best for throttle blippers though.

thats a good story about a good motor, customer service like that should sell more motors than anything else at most any price. props to chuck

Chuckys intake setup is much more than just carbs and jetting.
He looks at the motor as a whole and sets up the intake accordingly. With so many different motor combos that they offer, each having it's own wants and needs, carbs have to be jetted accordingly.

Long story short, I made an honest effort to take in as much information that Chucky freely offered on carb setups. A few hours into the one sided conversation (when Chucky starts all you can do is listen) my head was throbbing. This happened every time we met and motors were brought up.
The man is a well of knowledge so your question should be directed to him. Why bother with second hand information when you could get all you need from the man him self.

Holly shait, Daytona is in a few short days. Maybe I'll treat my baby scream to a set of new plugs.

I heard that intake system sells for close to 1600.00 I wonder how it would compare to a set of 44's and plain old carbon tech reeds on a 701 cc.

It was quoted via e mail to a guy from Phoenix I met at the river. 1550.00 for manifold with reed cages two 46 mm carbs with linkage. It also included stock air filter sets. It did included the jetting though.. It might be a little cheaper with a set of proks.
I told him to get a set of 44's and a used manifold for 1/3 the amount and spend the rest on a bore job and a port job. He said it was a good idea because we both thought the porting would help a lot more than the benefits of the 46's over the 44's.

That doesn't sound very reputable.
If it were me wondering about the price, I would contact XScream directly and ask for a quote.

So big carbs on small engine can and will provide you the "hit" - what would be your recommendations on carb prep or setting? Just curious...

I remember years ago when building a limited race boat, Ed Brazina was giving me a hard time because I was running 46 Full Spectrums on my limited. He wanted me to run 48's.

I have some Pro tec 44's I picked up cheap that I am running on my baby scream 701. Made a nice improvement over my 38's.
