Freestyle The "it sure looks good sitting on a stand" Backie Chan build!

I love this build ..... If you lived closer we could do a side by side procrastination comparison. I have a circus that's been on a stand for over a year.... Actually I'm close to paint / assembly just a matter of $ .

I will say that that is a color combo I have never considered...... And it's fantastic. Steve really Had a eye for paint schemes .

photo-4.JPG Well well well…..looked what showed up!! It took 27 weeks but here it is. It's missing a few parts (breather tubes and backing plate) but compared to where I was at last week I couldn't be happier! I will call X-Scream for the backing plate and hoses but if anyone has suggestions for cheaper breather hoses I am listening. The holes in the bracket are 1 5/8" but the holes in the pole are oval so the hoses need to be flexible.
It seems like this is taking a long time but it actually is coming along nicely. I have just been buying one part at a time because they are expensive obviously but mainly because most of these aftermarket parts are all new to me and I enjoy doing the research. The motor, TL and carbs are mounted and complete. My pipe and steering will be here this next week and really all I have left it to mount this pole and to order some trim. After a few odds and ends I should be ready to get this Ol' girl wet! I will post up some pics this next week after it is a little more buttoned up. A sincere thanks to the X for helping me out on this one!!

I'm guessing it was taken off for paint and after 27 weeks it is probably sitting in a corner of Steve's shop. A little bit of a bummer but I'm hoping X-Scream will take care of me for a reasonable price.

I just picked some up at Home Depot and they will work great. I wish I had the backing plate so I could mount this thing!

I got a bunch done over the last few days but it kinda seems like a waste to post this stuff with no more Chans being sold for now anyways. But I'll continue anyways. I ordered the missing parts to my pole from X-Scream. Cost about $70 bucks or so but I can't wait around. I need that bracket bolted on so I can mount this pipe. I ordered X-Metal steering as well. Lots of choices out there for steering and some are probably better but I figured I won't have any issues with their stuff and their pole together. I cleaned up some wiring as well. I had some cable/wire holders that I took off my donor ski that were riveted on. I epoxied them up under the engine compartment lip to keep all the wire outta sight. Finally I drilled all the holes for the pole bracket. Always scary drilling on these things but no way around it. I remembered reading in someones build (mindless I think) to line up the pole with the hood instead of the mounting area. Great advice. The nose of the ski isn't perfectly aligned and visually the pole needs to be lined up with the lines of the hood in the end. I started on the pipe and a few things to talk about are the hoses. The blue 3/8" hose that come with the pipe is great. The hull has 1/2" cooling fittings but with some heat and soapy water and a lot of muscle I forced the hose over. It won't leak thats for sure! I did find it strange that the exhaust manifold has one 1/2 elbow and one 3/8 elbow but comes with 3/8 line. No big deal but still strange. The other thing I didn't know is that I will need a OEM style exhaust hose to finish this install. So with that JetManiac will be getting a PM for some parts again!! Finally I had great luck with some rubber straps that I bought at Home Depot to use on the pipe and tank. 5 straps for $10 in different lengths. I found some smaller S hooks at the hardware store to use and they look pretty good for cheap. No knots so I think I will run em! Thats it for now I guess. I'm thinking this thing should be done in few weeks! Sure hope it starts!!

They sold you the billet adjustable piece and the backing plate for $70? What a deal!
