Freestyle The "it sure looks good sitting on a stand" Backie Chan build!

I agree the turf looks nice but I'm not sure how long it will stay looking nice. It's basically white and seems fragile. I guess I will find out here soon. I need more for the pole pad and the chin pad and was just looking and it looks like it is about $80 a sheet. Would be cool to be able to get a half sheet.
The only big purchase I have left is trim. I have a 61X nozzle on my mag pump so I need both a reduction nozzle and a steering nozzle. Seems like price wise Thrust and X-Scream with the nozzles are about the same price. If anyone has suggestions I appreciate it.

Very clean look. One of my favs. Can't wait to see it on water. That matching pole is a helluva touch.

Thanks. I can't wait either! Needs a ride plate still and some trim but gettin close! Two things I wish I would have shown more of are the TL and the battery placement. Good stuff that I learned that some guys can learn from my troubles. I may add that stuff later.

photo-9.JPG Holy crap it works!!!! I was getting ready to finish my start/stop switch wiring and figured I should at least try out my work to see if the motor would even turn over. Like I said holy crap it worked!! I installed everything including the MSD TL myself (with a little help from my buddy Byeai) so there is a lot of room for error but so far so good. After hearing the engine turn over I buttoned most of the wiring up today. Pulling the battery out to charge it is going to be a pain so I need to think about that a bit. Lessons learned today were 1 1/4" vacuum hoses from Home Depot work perfect with the X Metal pole, wire loom hurts my fingers after a few hours and don't drink and wire important things!! Just joking, I learned the last thing years ago!!

I ordered Thrust trim and a few other things from JetManiac two days ago and got them today. That guy rules if you didn't already know that! I don't really need much else except time to bolt all this stuff together and finish up. I noticed the cut out on the steering nozzle will need a little help to properly clear the Thrust trim bracket. Its kinda tight which is weird with the cost of this stuff but it seems to be the norm. Hydro Turf will arrive tomorrow for a pole pad and to turf the chin pad. I'm actually looking forward to the next build after all the things I've learned it seems like it would be easy compared to this one.

Great news, get that thing together! El Cap just opened summer schedule (Thurs-Sun) and had enough wind for white caps. Yesterday had 70+ mph wind gusts. That ski looks sweet.

Yeah I thought about that but was a little concerned about charging my WPS LiPo in the ski. They seem a little more unstable than the Lithium Phosphate type. I was also considering the quick dis-connects so at the least I don't have to unscrew the terminals each time.

Well a couple steps forward and one back. Never checked spark on my TL until today because I waited to wire the switch once the pole was mounted. I followed the instructions to the tee. Everything went smooth but today no spark. Bummed cause everything was tied up nicely and I took it all down. I checked S4 and yes it is off. My coils are grounded correctly to the engine, the LED lights up when slowly turning the flywheel so the triggers are good. I tried two different batteries but same results. I started reading all the threads and this doesn't look too uncommon. Hopefully it is something dumb. I will short the trigger wires next I guess (only read how to do this) to see if the coils are good. One thing weird is twice I got one spark followed by a slow flashing LED. I can't duplicate it though. More reading and troubleshooting to follow. Other good stuff though is the trim is mounted as are all the cables for throttle, steering and trim. I did need to run my Dremel in the steering nozzle groove to get it to clear properly. That's common as well I guess. The only other thing I have to mention is that both the steering and trim cable are designed for Superjet length hulls. There may be better options but no one mentioned it to me so I have cables that are about 12" too long. Requires them to be snaked in the hull. I ran them up high and it worked but it seems there is a better option. Off the research MSD troubleshooting more!

Make sure the wire that goes from the MSD brain to the relay is on the correct relay post. I've had that mixed up before and it caused similar symptoms.
