Kinda off topic, but can you guys tell if this is a factory color on my 1978? Ive been told by a couple people that that is indeed a factory color, but every picture I see of the 70's green is a little darker/yellowish. When you look at the ski up close, it doesn't look like its been painted either though.

I've never seen a '78 with that for a factory color. the '78's were white with red and blue striping. you need some zero or at least 7 degree bars on that thing though.

the serial numbers from the one sitting on my dryer is 000034873.

if the last 4 numbers indicate day, month, and year, then I have the 3rd ski.

that's not my theory. flynty was the one that said that. i/e 04/08/73

did you even think about what I wrote?...lol

You said "day, month, and year". You didn't say month, day, and year .

You don't want to know what I really thought about what you wrote.

So, is the js400 "sitting" on the dryer or not? You contradict your own statements. Curious minds want to know.

yes, I would like to know what you really thought, kurt...lol

you on the rag or something? :)

I told you it was not my theory, I was trying to figure it out based on what flynty told me in the other thread. I actually do not know what ski it is, I just know what the serial numbers are.

Can we see a current pic of the 400 WAD?
Why don't you put it up on your current dryer for the pic

I don't know where that picture is, scorny. charlie was the last one I knew to have a copy of it saved.

there is no room on my current dryer for it...lol

Haha, just found out more history on this ski.

The guy who owned it has worked for Kawasaki for 40+ years now. He lost it in a divorce when he lived here in Havasu for awhile and his wife left it in the storage garage that never got paid up. He is Japanese and still works for Kawi and is currently in Japan. He has a place over in LA and I guess hes coming back next week. We are gonna talk with him.

Also we found out that this in fact never did make it to the water ever and was a floor only model..

We also found out that there is no crankshaft, pistons, stator or flywheel inside the motor. Just everything else to make it look good from the outside! It was just for looks to sit on a Factory Kawasaki showroom floor.
Thats why the gas tank has no smell of gas, just old plastic..lol

So who bought it ,I guess it won't bring as much as you thought with the empty motor.
did you guys not notice no drive coupling on the back when you looked at it.
probbably just in a hurry to get and high tail it out of there hey lol

Day month year is the international way to declare a date... just fyi

Allow me to blow a hole right through this theory. The last two digits are model year and it is well known that the 3rd to last digit is production year. Sounds like you have a counterfeit 73 or a homebuilt VIN number. As proof of the syntax of the 1973 HIN numbers here are pictures of the TWO 1973's that I owned.

When I asked you who made the famous $10,000 offer on your dryer paperweight you "couldn't remember."

Your story has more holes than swiss cheese.

Aaron
