The riser bar thread

I ghetto rigged this today to see if a rise is for me. It's about a 1.75" rise.

Now that's some proper ghetto-rigging. Well done.

I've got a couple weeks on my Blowsion riser bars now. I like them. Reboarding is a bit more difficult, but you get used to it.

Jeremy still has that thing, btw. He's wanting to sell it and the X2. I don't think either has run since 2008 at least.

Whats hard about Matts isn't the height, its the location of the start button and throttle to get the beast fired back up lol.

One would be some runabout/mx bars. Issues with these are they are manufactured to use the cross bar for strength. 7/8" Renthal bars specifically say not to remove the cross bar. I haven't looked for such info for all manufacturers, but I'm going to assume removal of said bar is not recommended. The great thing about running runabout/mx bars would be not having to buy a 1 1/8" adapter.

you won't taco bars after removing the cross bar because the pole moves, you don't put much weight on them.

Agree, and I might add will provide extra flex if you happen to do something like i did, I would have much rather bent the bars than broken my wrist. I have been thinking of a bar design specifically with "flex" built in to help with shock loads.

My friend has these on his dirt bike, they are the shizz, they virtually eliminate arm pump! They couldn't hurt on hard landings either.

Too rich for my blood though.

I'm using the Pro Taper SE on an x metal adjustable turn plate on my salt / buddy ski . I love the set up , others hate it . My wrist can't take flat bars without any sweep ( They kill me with in minutes of riding ). IMO flat bars are very un natural ergonomically speaking . I also like the rise however, most mx bars have a touch more than is desired . I'll take a little extra and adjust over a flat bar 10 out of 10 .

Very AWESOME ghetto riggin'

For the most part, yes. I just worry about hard landings on the hood, however, without the bar, they would bend. My worst fear is that they would break and leave a jagged edge that my forearm slides down gashing me open from wrist to elbow. That's probably worst case scenario, and very unlikely to happen, but it's in my mind.

I'm still leaning this way. I got some runabout bars, but too much rise. After some bumming around, I found a buddy with some low rise bars that I am going to try out. If I like them, I might pony up for some SE bars or similar.

Ya, I saw those a while back, very cool and having that little extra flex when slamming onto the hood might just save a trip to the ER. Might keep you from getting penis wrist like Crab.

hehe, yea

Well, I got to ride with my cheapass riser setup yesterday on some flatwater and rapids and overall I don't think the the short rise made a huge difference, but it was noticeable. It almost felt like I added an inch to my pole length but without losing the ability to get my weight further forward. I noticed I could hold it wide open easier, but that could have been a couple other things too.

Flapjack, I wouldn't worry about an armgina from broken non'taper bars, every pair that I've seen break have been right at the clamp so there wouldn't be a giant pointy thing out to shank you.

Went back to flat bars recently, I don't really notice a whole lot of difference.
Glad I didn't drop a whole bunch of cash on an aftermarket setup otherwise I would have to come in here and tell you guys how awesome they are :ugh2:
