I ghetto rigged this today to see if a rise is for me. It's about a 1.75" rise.
Very AWESOME ghetto riggin'
you won't taco bars after removing the cross bar because the pole moves, you don't put much weight on them.
For the most part, yes. I just worry about hard landings on the hood, however, without the bar, they would bend. My worst fear is that they would break and leave a jagged edge that my forearm slides down gashing me open from wrist to elbow. That's probably worst case scenario, and very unlikely to happen, but it's in my mind.
I'm using the Pro Taper SE on an x metal adjustable turn plate on my salt / buddy ski . I love the set up , others hate it . My wrist can't take flat bars without any sweep ( They kill me with in minutes of riding ). IMO flat bars are very un natural ergonomically speaking . I also like the rise however, most mx bars have a touch more than is desired . I'll take a little extra and adjust over a flat bar 10 out of 10 .
I'm still leaning this way. I got some runabout bars, but too much rise. After some bumming around, I found a buddy with some low rise bars that I am going to try out. If I like them, I might pony up for some SE bars or similar.

Ya, I saw those a while back, very cool and having that little extra flex when slamming onto the hood might just save a trip to the ER. Might keep you from getting penis wrist like Crab.
