The riser bar thread

I slapped on a set about three months ago. Won't go back to normal bars again. I do recommend getting a crossbar pad from lowered pro-taper or renthal mx bars and zip-tie them around the phat clamp. I know a few others as well as myself have banged our knees pretty good on it.

Do or can they just replace the most common straight bars with out buying a new turn plate or bracket.
Yea, B1 bars work for me. First ride out I noticed much better control and improved ergonomics to my still healing wrist. Not sure if the height had anything to do with that or the sweep of the OE B1 bars, but they work better than just straight. I have long arms and rebording is no issue especially coming from an x2 with very high rise bars on an already stupidly hard ski to reboard.......As an added benefit for me, I enjoy planting the pole on the hood and wave surfing in a crouched position and this makes it super easy and fun. Another thing to bear in mind in my case is I run the tite pole configuration that some people do not like! (i do) Bottom line its a personal choice and not for everybody, just happens to work for me with my riding style.

How wide are the B1 bars? I just installed a set of UMI bars from a SeaDoo XP... they are 30"s wide... can't wait to try them out... should give me better leverage being wider.

I think they were 25 inches, some issues with the odi clamp rings but I shimmed them with some small pieces of an old hose clamp to get them to grab. They try to bite just outside the knurled area where its a tad too small.

had my first ride session of the season - wow do I love thse riser bars. The 30" wide bars make a huge difference for me, as I don't feel so crowded in and I seam to get more leverage. My first flat water BR attempt was effortless and nearly plate to plate. Lovin' it!!!

How wide are most of the bars everyones using? I just bought some Fly bars for mine and bolted them to the Wamiltons turnplate. They feel so wide, about 30". Not sure if I like the -2 turnplate, it almost hurts my back standing in the footholds and reaching for the bars. Im only 5'7" though. I dont know how every runs there stuff -5 or so, I feel like Im about to tip over now.

ride for a little longer and go back to strait bars. then you can tell. trust me i did it. its ok if you dont wanna say you were wrong

Ha, it's hard for us haters to swallow our pride ya know........
I have always thought they were pointless but recently started to wonder if I could fit my trim lever on with them. It doesn't look like it will fit.

Probably a stupid question....i currently have an xmw steering setup. Could I use the turnplate and clamps for a riser bar setup, or do I need new stuff?

if you can find 7/8 bars that you like, you should be able to use them with the XMW. They are supposed to be working on some fat bar clamps.

I'm using 7/8s bars off of a 50 or 80 cc bike. They fit on my xmw steering fine, no modification needed.
