Just like home.I work in a building full of engineers and evidently I am the only one who knows how to open this and put a roll in...
I was installing turf on my ski last night and I told my wife "The turf doesn't look the best, but it will work." Her response? "It doesn't matter, have you looked at your ski recently?"
Soooo she was suggesting a new hull?
I remember those days. I had to fill a spray bottle with a Sharpie skull and crossbones drawn on it with "Monster Repellent" (water) and mist my sons closet and under his bed and outside his bedroom door every night for about a month before he got past the monsters in my room phase.3 year old is obsessed with monsters and doesn't want to go to sleep because "There are bad monsters in my dreams". Tonight he had to build a wall between the kitchen and living room out of anything he could find "to trip the monsters."
Sounds like pretty good bonding moments to me. The type of thing that seems trivial at the time but will soon be one of the phases you will look back on and miss.
We did the same thing with Izzy.........I remember those days. I had to fill a spray bottle with a Sharpie skull and crossbones drawn on it with "Monster Repellent" (water) and mist my sons closet and under his bed and outside his bedroom door every night for about a month before he got past the monsters in my room phase.
Speaking of feeling helpless...I've been out of town on a project since last Tuesday and I could tell my wife was pretty lonely and upset last night when we talked on the phone.
I'm usually pretty independent but that stuff kills me when she's that upset and I can't do anything about it.
She admitted this morning that she had been watching some very sappy shows all day yesterday and was overly sensitive, lol.
At least she can see and admit when she's being emotional.
If you have kids, having a job that puts you on the road is not good. I know for some that is just the way things are. But you dont get this time back. Good friend make a career change a little over a year ago. He drives car haulers taking new Mercedes to the Port in Jacksonville, then goes from there to god knows where ended up back here friday or saturdays. He now owns his on truck, making killer money, Even said "Get your CDL and I will get you set up with our company"......... I would be gone 5 days out of 7. Not worth it.I can't imagine how you guys with kids deal with the emotions of your children when you are on the road all the time. I can reason with my wife, (most of the time), but a child would never understand why daddy can't come home right now.
