Had a $64 MSD solenoid go bad.... while riding. Run away starter from stuck magnets in solenoid. Toasted starter, blew up bendix, wasted 16 cell AG battery, almost lost ski, longest swim in years. All in, about $800 of damage. While on vacation with 4 free days for riding.

Overnight starter, new solenoid and battery. Next day, stuck f-in solenoid! short swim, no carnage, just pissed. Done with MSD solenoids... seapoo on its way, back to work now.

At least I got to swim with my ski this vacation.

I've had good luck with seadoo solenoids. Haven't had one go bad yet. If it does they are easier to get.

My ski was running amazing Wednesday. Yesterday not so much

Been basically
Re building this since last winter. Had a good run of almost 6 years no issues. Then all at once I have dozens. Entire boat has been re wired new live well and pumps. Bilge pumps. Trim motor and relay box. Reinforced transom. Made custom aluminum engine mount. New floors. Trolling Motor depth finders. Seats. And all that's left is to install the new carpet that I've had for over a year now. Took it today and somewhere I have a transom leak. Whoever says ski are a pain has never owned a older bass boat. I'm just waiting for it to dry out now so I can re inspect and reseal what ever was leaking. Been fishing once all summer and that was in my dads boat. I typically go three to 5 times a week until this one took a dookie on me. Forgot all new lights tires bearings prop re done. Carbs rebuild and synced. Mall new fuel lines. Honestly be easy to list what I haven't replaced. Oh yeah the steering wheel :(
I'm
Frustrated, but all in all this is a small problem considering all that's already been done. I just needed to vent. Today was the first day since spring I could go and not be working on something and I left pissed never getting it off the trailer. I'm sure many of you have been in the same I hope not boat lol

I could have built a decent flat water ski for what I've sank into this so far. I forgot to mention the 300 dollars worth of batteries as well.

I feel your pain. My 20' SlutTracker pontoon with 97' Merc Force 75hp has low compression now across the board that happened when got a bunch of weeds around the intake on the lower unit and slowly was overheating on the 3 miles back from where the river meets the lake. I have no temp gauge or alarm. I cant even see the pisser on the engine when driving. I just got the boat a year and a half ago, so still a newb I guess. I will have temp and beeping alarm. Or on the cheap run a pisser tube along song of pontoon and have shooting out next to me..lol

Also my little 93 Bayliner Jazz 14' jet boat has one extra low compression cylinder too(3 cyl. 90hp Merc power head). Its just sitting again! But I got 12 year of good usage out of it too, only for $800 total investment. But so it sits. Oh well, just been riding stand ups and long trips on 3 seater and plenty of refreshments.

Its kind of a pain in the ass maintaining a few or more water toys(boats or ski's), but its nice to have a backup, especially when its nasty hot or your low of $$$ when one breaks...lol

A friend of mine just toasted his pontoon the same way. Water pump stopped working or got clogged. He isn't very mechanical didn't even know what the pisser was till I explained it and showed him 10psi in center cylinder. His is only about 5 years old and he's looking at least 6k to replace or fix at a shop. I want to but I don't have the time to get my own work done lately.

To add to my boat frustration. It isn't a transom leak. I can fill the hull full of water on the trailer and nothing leaks out. Put it in the water and it comes in. Extremely frustrating
