Don't ask that question again.

Ok so I've convinced myself that I need new footholds. I just can't get any confidence with my current holds and that's holding me back. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try and modify my old XFT holds to fit in this hull. The question I have now is this... What color for new turf?

My first choices are red or yellow but hydroturf even warns you that both will fade severely. So that puts me back at square one. I've been using gray for too long and have seen enough of black. I like the royal blue but my ski is blue and that's just too much of the same color. I'm kind of leaning towards teal or lime green.

Well I'm going with the 'in your face' lime green turf. I also ordered a big sheet of 3/4" minicell padding. My plan it to double up the padding in the back and then trim it out for my feet so I have deep section to help keep my feet in place while still giving me plenty of padding.

Well I finally ditched the highroller holds. 1st pic is the hull with the highroller holds, 2nd pic is my heavily modified XFT holds with huge gaps, and the last pic is all glassed in. Tomorrow, I'll move onto padding and turf. It took me two days to glass because I needed to make sure the first layers that were stretched across the gaps were solid before moving on.

Just so you know that lime green will turn mint green before long.....I've had it on my ski for a few months and its already faded pretty badly but I dont regret using it at all cause it still looks great on my ski

I ordered more resin when I ordered more fabric like a week after I gave you my resin. I knew the amount I gave you was just enough to get me halfway through whatever project I would do next. Don't even sweat it man.

Finished pics of the new turf and massive kick tail to hopefully keep me from sliding backwards and my feet in the holds. There are 3 layers of 3/4" of padding in the back and roughly 1" under my feet and 1/3" on the top of the holds. We'll see how it does later this afternoon...

did you wrap the turf under at the rear? If so, the water is going to rip the turf off, possibly causing it to rip up into the tray. Might want to trim it at the edge. Sand with a sanding block at a 45 degree angle to the ground.

Yes I do have a metal strip on the back edge to prevent the turf from pulling up. Here is the side shot as well. As you can see, I haven't changed the chin pad or the side rails. I'm pretty sure I have enough to do at least the side rails but since the ones on there are holding up great, I'm not going to ruin a good thing just yet.

I understand what you're saying completely. Honestly, I was looking for a color that would be loud and 'in your face' and the lime green does that. I am aware of the fading color issue and I ordered a cover on June 18th to help out with that. Unfortunately, I ordered an FX-1 cover because I thought it would fit the best but those covers are made when ordered and my order will ship out between July 18th and Aug 1st....WTF! Hopefully it'll hold up in the sun for a month.

On a side note, I went out today to test ride. The footholds are quite loose but surprisingly they still hold me in. I guess it's the massive pockets. Maybe this will mean that I won't have to stop every so often to let blood flow back into my feet from the footholds cutting off the circulation. The knee cut out in the middle works perfect.
