The "why the hell is he doing this" build

You need...
24vac transformer,
some shielded two conductor cable (cut up extension cord works)
Extension cord
Project box (any box to house the transformer and dimmer)
Standard light dimmer

Cut the extension cord female end off. Wire the male end into the 120v input. One of the leads off the transformer goes to the dimmer. Grounds get tied off. The remaining lead of the dimmer and the transformer go to each side of the hot wire.

I used guitar string (high e IIRC) for the element. As long as I don't turn the heat up too high I haven't had any issues with them burning out.

Stop right there ! Before you go any further ! Building a foam cutter is just not worth doing for two stinking sponsons .

What you do is make a paper pattern with cardboard. Decide where to start and end .... Hint the shape is going to look like a ..... TUBBIE !

Tell you what , I'll walk you thru it. It's easy you don't need fancy cutters .... You have pm

But the fancy cutter looks fun to build. Sportfish you can explain on the page maybe it will give other people idea on how to do it.

Nate I'm not sure what I'm doing with my bond line. Basically just widening it like @swapmeet suggested. Hell I'm not sure if anything I am doing is gonna work but it might be fun and it might be everything a 650 ever needed.

I feel like it's dragging ass now but hopefully I'll get the ass end and bond line all done tomorrow night.

It looks good. Going to add some stability. I like how you think with the wood scraps and zip ties and what not.

Here is my foam cutter. Light dimmer switch, 12v battery, and a wire out of an old toaster. Long bolt with a wing nut to adjust tension.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful and thanks for all you guys who think this is a cool idea to do to a 650. I'm enjoying it and in glad y'all are too.

Pole areas on hold until I get some measurements. probably one of the last things I do after I get the top and bottom bonded again. Anyways I might have the rear to a point I'm ready to glass what do you guys think?

Sweet thanks @txsuperjetfreak96

I forgot to tell you guys Words of wisdom that I can actually give.

Your neighbors will think you are weird when you have just your top deck sitting in the driveway with you standing like your on the ski and have a tape measure as your pole trying to figure out your pole length and foot hold placement!!!

Oh just remember when they give you that look, like is he a tard. Just look at them and give some BRAP noises..... They will put there head down and Walk in the house. Haha
