okay well we got the RN exhaust tube in there now. its down about 1/2 and inch and moved to the left about 1 inch compared to the squarenose tube.
we wanted enough space to clear the footholds easily and since we were changing tubes anyway we just glassed over both holes and drilled new ones.
Tube is riveted in with some 5200 around the flange and around the hole in the bulkhead.

went for the tray refoaming after that. I dont know why everyone says defoaming/refoaming is such a pain in the a$$? I didn't think it was that bad.

still need some more sanding on the foam to get the tray to fit the way it should and then just gotta chisel a little bit of foam out to fit the holds.

We tried to pour the foam so there was still space for the footholds but tim got a little carried away on the amount of foam he mixed up.

most of the ribs are ground in the engine bay to get ready to reinforce as well.

still a lot more foaming, sanding and glassing to go.

okay we got the tray and footholds glassed in tonight and fixed the crack on the rear bondline.

we will be foaming the small void behind the holds on wednesday.

drilled some drain holes in the hood for the hood mod. drilled some air intake holes in the back too but they need to be cleaned up a bit. ill take pics after they get smoothed out some.

i thought you guys got rid of it allready nice thing to keep for spare stuff. i gotta start working on mine again. hey how many layers on hull reinforcement are you putting on it just to get an idea?

cabosil in the bond line, a 4 inch strip of carbon fiber tape, then one layer of 1208 knytex biaxial weave.

thats basically the same thing i did on my roundnose that blowsion sells in their reinforcement kit... although i think that stuff might have been a bit thicker, maybe 1708.

i filled the foam behind the footholds and cut the excess glass we had hanging over the bondline in the rear.

after that i ground out the ribs under the nose and i have it flipped over... im ready to foam and glass under there... now i just need help hanging it from the i beam in my garage. im at a stand still until then.

well i got it hung... foamed some under the nose and tim layed one layer of mat. tomorow we are going to reinforce the sides then flip it back over to do another layer of biax under the nose.

just smoothes it out to lay glass across the pole bracket and nose area a bit.
makes it easier to reinforce and after cracking one hull in that spot theres no reason to do it again.

plus we threw out the white styrofoam so a little more foam up there doesnt hurt for structure and floatation.

got the side reinforced tonight....other side is coming tomorow.

okay so we got the left side of the ski reinforced today and did some fairing on the outside of the ski... just filling in all the little divits and getting ready to sand and prep for primer.

also foamed out one side of the hood... its a pain because my garage is getting cold now... the foam takes longer to react and expand. the hood is going to take a lot of work... its not looking to be fun.

he might get one of those goose pole setups... light as hell and aluminum... stronger bracket, better steering, straight bars....plus it looks better than that giganto alum square pole.
