Custom/Hybrid Trinity Composites

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
I've had two different hulls from Trinity, the first being the EVO XF and my current one a -4" Matrix Pro. I loved the first and I love the second. Everything that went wrong with the EVO was my fault. The last rideplate Bobby ever made ripped off (inserts were fine...I just have a carbon rideplate at the bottom of the lake ) after the first day because I was too in a hurry to ride to allow the locktite and sealant to dry. The other issue I had was when I installed the boweyes on the back rails, it opened up the cavity under the tray that has no foam and filled with I think 8-10 gallons of water. I called Bobby and he happily sent me materials to fix it as well as walked me through how to prepare them and apply them. The Matrix Pro.. no major issues so far after 2 years of beating the :):):):) out of it.

Both hulls were late, the first wasn't that late, I think maybe a week? The second was extremely late and it was around the same time the other incident that was discussed it this thread. Part of the reason on my hull, if I remember correctly, was weather. Bobby called and told me there was going to be a delay because it was either too cold or too humid (I don't remember) for him to comfortably layup part of the hull. One of the other reasons, which was on my end, was that my brother ordered a Matrix at the same time to be completed at the same time as mine. So a delay in one was a delay in the other. During the builds he sent us both pictures as he made progress as well as both of them done...as a tease.

I still keep in contact from time to time with Bobby to BS and because he calls occasionally to check up on seeing to see if I am still happy with the hull or if there are any problems. That is what I consider amazing customer service. Another awesome thing Bobby did was saved us both hundreds of dollars in shipping. He knew that Parr was heading to WI and arranged for him to bring both of the hulls up with him so my brother and I could just drive from MN and pick them up.

I've really only had experiences with two other hull manufactures; BOB and EME. From the two examples I've seen from BOBs when it comes to quality and business ethics I would never buy from them. A buddy had terrible experiences with EME (lakeboy) and I'll never buy from them.

I am a returning customer to Trinity and if I ever want to change things up from the Matrix, I'll look there again first.

I was just informed of this on going situation once again. I pasted my original response below to the original thread over a year ago. The thread against Trinity Composites and or myself Bobby Howering included several thousand views and countless posts of slander. The response I made (below) in defense to the thread of concern was locked mins or hours after the post. So most did not see the response, feel free to read and make a fair assumption. ALL transactions from contract, to bank statements, all emails from/to customer, delivery dates of payments/third party shipment dates, and complete thread posts up to my response has been documented. Based on the customers own decisions there is nothing owed financially, morally or legally. All requirements by customer were fulfilled. Also advised customer to seek a professional lawyer to render a solution. There is a legitimate counter suit prepared for this dispute if it is pursued.

To the gentleman who has the third party concern. The accusations are slender and suggest you refrain to your own personal business. This complete thread has been documented again for proof of the concern in your malice and slander against Trinity Composites. Trinity Composites will be in touch with our lawyer to discuss further action. Enough is enough, Be well.

Thanks to those who commend my work and see this as a two sided deal. I assure all, that this is my passion to build a composite based company on the best product and personal service I can provide in this market and markets out of the sport. It takes dedication to the enth degree to have the accomplishments attained by myself through decades of focus to obtain mastery in my craft. I'm honored to share my work to all that have purchased a hull that has been built by myself personally. This company started by the idea from a few riders at a lake one day in 2005. It truly has been a pleasure to build a growing composite based company producing something as cool as a jetski hull.

I did not want to address this on a forum, yet there has been a number a concerned parties because of this negative situation. I want to start when the customer signed a contract on February 16 of 2010, deposit was received March 22 2010. Customer wanted a complete ski but stated he only had the funds to put a 50% deposit on a Trinity Matrix Pro hull and build labor ($5500). The contract stated build specification and that it was to be a complete build. It was stated by the customer that he would acquire the money to purchase the engine in the near future. The original plan was by the customer to make a 5o% deposit towards hull and build labor, buy the engine and component package and then make a final hull and labor payment. A engine package and component list was put together by customer and Trinity composites and then finalized by customer and engine builder. I contacted customer August 27 of 2010 to see if he contacted engine builder to acquire components needed for build, at that time nothing was started. December 10 2010 I was informed by the customer that the engine was finishing up and required final payment and shipping payment to engine builder. That I would receive shipment by the end of December 2010. Between the 15th and 22 of February 2011 the engine package was delivered. I informed customer on final payment and payment was received in full March 25 2011. I contacted customer mid April 2011 stating hull parts would be coming out of mold within a week. At this time the build was slowed by 3 other hulls in progress for customers and expressed to customer the situation. I was finishing up builds and chipping away the best I could. The customer was getting very frustrated and on July 28 2011 all the engine parts and components were removed from my shop by a third party. The parts were photographed and signed for removal by a third party. The end of July 2011 the hull was finished and turned over to a local paint shop. In the middle of August 2011 the hull was back from paint minus two small covers for the handle pole area that needed some more paint work. Hull was picked up around the 19th of August.

This is not the way I like to see things go and understand the frustration. At the same time I was very patient over the course of a year. There was a lot of time lost in regards to this build and confusion. Unfortunately, due to the time line some things were out of my control. I can’t accept full responsibility. Any further action or concerns required by the customer I recommend the customer contact a professional lawyer. Again I did not want to see this happen and hoped all this would have worked out. I have been advised not to responded any further to this thread or the customer.

5 pages later...

I'm having dejavu. I think I read this exact same thing in a used for sale thread. One guy called dibs but didn't pay, and the other guy agreed to the dibs but didn't ship until he was paid. They both ended up frustrated. They both accepted the situation, but trolls got on the rantwagon and the thread continued for pages and pages.

I'm a completely neutral party on this. I haven't done business with Trinity. I have heard of it but don't know who this Bobby is. I don't know who bought the ski or his friends and don't know the specific details of what happened.

What I do know is it's really stupid and irrelevant to continue going back and forth on.

Here's the only important facts I have obtained from the 5 pages of crap I just read.

Guy wanted product he couldn't afford.
Company didn't want to lose sale so accepted partial payment.
Guy wanted something company had never done before.
Company agreed to a new product they hadn't ever done before (RTR).
Guy with no money and company that over promised ended up in a dispute.
Company broke contract, guy contributed to cause of breaking of contract, contact is null and void.
Company stopped agreeing to provide RTR can't get it done sales.
Guy is very unhappy, with a fair reason to be, but also shares responsibility.

Based on all other responses...
Company has an amazing track record.
Company is always late, because doing it right is more important than doing it fast.
Quality both includes design and fabrication.

Conclusion...
Want a quality product, buy trinity
Want a fast product? don't buy trinity
Want someone you can trust about what day of the week it is? Don't buy trinity
Want someone you can trust otherwise? Buy trinity

I too would be pissed if I paid butt loads of cash on something that wasn't delivered on time.

But I also know I have to put up or shut up. Based on the story being told, guy didn't put up, and friends should shut up. (State it was a bad experience but drag it out blah blah blah. We get it. We got it on page 1. The company works slow.)

Wdk also has sold hundreds more parts and hulls then Trinity. Not defending him just pointing it out. There are more than one issues with time frames from trinity. Way more. Nice work but heavier than competitions hulls and way more headache involved in getting one of his hulls as well. Pay, wonder and wait. By the time you get it 2 more new hull designs will be out and you could have bought one of each for what you spent on your much delayed outdated model
We all have an opinion right. That's just mine. Only derived from what I read on the all to true Internet rantings of the x members

It was locked and I thought it was soon after removed, I could not find it. In general to all I'm not on here to be right and prove wrong. Tired of hearing of this one deal from one outside person who is not directly involved. It was unfortunate for all parties.

This is not the case, Chris is very well off. Who the hell would pay in full for a custom hull before its done?

My opinions are only based on what I've read as I've already stated. I'm just an outsider and a neutral party that is reading the situation and sharing my 2 cents. Don't be upset by my comments. I didn't pay for the hull and I didn't get paid to build it so I'm just creating conversation about this situation. Sometimes having a neutral parties opinion helps both people have a better understanding and come to an agreement. That's why this post was started... I'm not attacking you, your friend, Bobby, or Trinity Composites. I'm just sharing my opinion based on the facts that were shared

You're right, I apologize - the thread was removed per the OP's (your customer) request.

Some of us do not want tiny hulls that'll have waterlogged foam, cracks and ripped-out motor mounts after one season. I wanted an all-purpose (mostly surf) lightweight, completely bulletproof, ski. I got it.

Yes, others are lighter.
Yes, others are smaller.
but stronger.... I highly highly doubt it. I certainly couldn't have gotten 2 other new hulls for $6000.

The customer service is also steller. Bobby has walked me through putting a layer of carbon on the bottom of my ski after running over 3 years of rocks and having it get ground down on cement. He also let me keep my ski in the Trinity tent at Daytona and continuously charged my battery all weekend. Completely satisfied customer.

Did I just read that correctly? Wow.... Anything I have to say about that would probably be considered a personal attack... Seriously wow

slander[ slan-der ]
noun
1. defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.
2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.
3. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.

It's not slander

I agree here with munki63 - I think the whole slander thing is silly and you'd be wasting your time and financial resources pursuing such a thing.

Bobby, im not taking sides here but the remainder of the payment was made March 25 and in April you contacted customer saying hull parts would be coming out of the mold in a week. Yet 5 months later the the hull was ready? I can see why after 3 month of probably no progress someone got frustrated and pick their parts up.

There was defiantly errors from both parties. The situation is over and done with and arguing about it isn't going to make it any better.

Like I said before, Trinity seems to be on track now and it shouldn't be a concern to order from them.

The saying goes like this you can have it one of three ways , Good, cheap or fast, you only get to pick two out of the three, if its good and cheap it won't be fast, if its good and fast it won't be cheap and if its fast and cheap it won't be good !

Thanks for posting that. I actually needed to hear for things that are going on outside this thread!

Here is an update on my Matrix. It took a few days to match the custom color I wanted for my top half. Originally Bobby told me 4-5 weeks but he was hoping to have it before. With a few delays from BOB adjustable footholds get lost in the mail for two days and trying to match my paint sample he is still on track. I want to add something else. Out of the Five AM hull I was interested in. Bobby was the only one that called me in person. Two of them sent me a generic email and two never heard back. Bobbies costumer service has really impressed me and there quality is second to none. There are no manufacture out there that are perfect. Thing happen !
