I ususally charge about $175 to build a crate for a customer. Although, it does take me about 2 /1/2 hrs

Ya $175... $200 or even $250 for a really good one with a $$$ ski in it... Its not the hardest thing in the world to do... Wood in FLA must be big $$$?

Wood in FLA isn't cheep. I remember just the cost of Wamilton's Crates (material only) was about $170 at one time. That's was very little scrap too. Wamilton built some nice crates too. Too nice sometimes. Maybe you got one of those?

?

Well the ski showed up yesterday and they did a great job wrapping it with bubble wrap but forgot one thing... tie the thing down to the pallet!:irked:
I just don't get it... not the way to win over a customer...

Don't know... I never saw the ski before it left their shop. It has a few marks in the bottom of the hull and the rubrail has been hit but it's not a big deal... It's just sad because the first shipping company I had went to their place to pick up the ski and when they saw the was it was packaged they didn't want to take it. So i had to get a different company to do it and it ended up costing me double! Now that I saw how it was packed I know why the first company said NO

Not cool at all .I know who not to buy a ski from if you have to ship it.

I've dealt with Wammer a few times for small parts and he always took care of me but not attaching a ski to the crate is unacceptable IMO.

I didn't want to pay the $400 for the crate so they offered me a 4' x 4' flat crate for $50... I thought that included the straps... guess I was wrong?

I would agree that the $18.00 for hood straps is insane. I can totally understand having a minimum shipping cost like blowsion does but to charge that much for handling is a joke. If most of your business is mail order then it needs to built into the cost. I have never had any problems with wamiltons but I will be sure to call and get the shipping cost before I order again. When I order from someplace that has minimum shipping like blowsion I make sure to order enough to offset the cost.I would say that the shipping needs to be disclosed. This is part of the reason I dont buy from Riva because they cant seam tell you what shipping is when you call. Not that they have ripped me off, I just like to know all the cost up front. Like I have said before. All jetski companies have poor customer service. These people are gearheads not business men. If you name a company I bet I could tell you or pull up a horror story about them.

I dont know about the shipping gougings, but I think it is strange that I can order stuff from Blowsion and get my parts in seven days ground from the west coast but Ive been waiting over 10 days now from wammer and he is one state over. No info, no tracking #, no nothing. It's not hard to inform your customers if there is a problem.

I actually like how you can register and log on his website to order. Then when you wanna go back and see when you ordered, I can't seem to be able to pull up "my account". :frown:

The bloke is a complete tool, if i ever travel to America he will be getting a bunch of fives. I ordered about $1500 worth of stuff off him. He takes the money from my bank account on the day i placed the order but due to a water box not been in stock he does not send my goods till a month later. Now i understand that stuff often goes on back order, but the clown had the cheek to take my money before shipping, thats a months interest in his fat bank account and not mine.
The blokes a clown shoe, plus he needs to speak the queens english and loose his accent cos i have no idea what he says on the phone!

He is from Brazil, spanish/portaguese sp! accent.........

What about when his suppliers charge him more for shipping? Should he complain about them in this site about them as well? Bottom line time is money and if it takes 15 minutes to take the order and do the paperwork and ship it not counting going to pick up supplies thats 16.00 at 65.00 an hour . We must ask ourselves how much does our boss make on 15 minutes of our time not how much we make in 15 minutes. His monthly business expense can't be cheap. I don't think he goes to the bank every time he sells a video.

If Wamilton was willing to ship a partial order, would you be willing to pay the additional shipping for an out of stock item or wait and have it shipped at one time which would be much cheaper, especially since it is going across the big pond??
