Yes the WCF are 20+ pounds lighter than stock. Most aftermarket hoods (including WCF) come in at around 11-13 pounds. Stock is 20-22, so yes, they are lighter. You'll be looking at about 25-30 pounds lighter.

You're asking whether you should build stock or aftermarket. The bigger question is, do you have about $6000 in your pocket or not.

If you go with the aftermarket hull, you could essentially leave your motor as-is and feel an improvement.

If you stay stock hull and still have $6k, then you could build a killer motor that would give you even more bang than the 25 pound weight savings (just my gut feeling).

But then you'll have to start a new thread...Which builder?

I have the money, its just I don't want to part with it!!

But Really, I want the most bang for the buck in the end. Something that I will enjoy for a long time, and will hold up, and if down the road I decide to sell will still hold its value some what.

I would probably stick with OEM for a while. If you get a aftermarket freestyle hood it will work with any SJ style aftermarket hull. I would put aftermarket hull last on a build up list. Start with a good motor and driveline then work your way up to aftermarket hull.

well heres what I decided and I think it will work well for what I do with the ski and progress my learning. I picked up a new 07 hull from wammer and there going to install my foot holds, turf, scupper, trim line, and also clearence the rear to clear the trim. IT was like half the cost of a full light weight hull. I'm gonna get a wammer hood for it this winter, and save my money and build my motor! I think it was the right way to go for now. I'll have a pretty capable boat for now and way more capable then I am at this point. So I'll be selling my stock 99 hull come next spring! Thanks for everyones input! Now I gotta read about motors!

he actually had 3 07 hulls so if any one wants one theres 2 left. I paid 3600 for everything including the crate to ship plus the labor. I'm happy, now I can use extra money towards motor work. I just couldnt pull the trigger on a aftermarket hull.....yet... I got alot to learn still. But now I will have a boat with all the stuff I wanted to install, and I have peace of mind knowing its installed correctly.. I was nervous to cut up my boat. I can get some loot back when I sell my 99 hull which is in really great condition. Wammers a great guy we went over all kinds of setups and I felt for the money and my use this would be great for now.

I thought about doing it myself, and I probably could have. But I know this way it will be nice and clean looking and water tight. This is a brand new hull, never in the water. I feel good about it it will be a new boat to me.

Do you guys think I should reinforce it at all? I ride all flat water.

WOW. He was selling those for $2500. Is he actually charging you $1100 to crate and ship you the hull? :ugh2:

Not sure if you realize it but your 99 hull is the EXACT same as the hull you just purchased. :cool2:

For that money I would make sure he fills in any holes on the bond line. My 07 hull had lots of spots missing glue in the bond line before it was reinforced and filled in. .02

I'll tell you what... you strip and send me your '99 hull and I'll do everything Wammer is doing and more for half the price. I do good work. This way you'll have money to spare that you can shoot towards a more powerful motor. Call Wammer up and cancel your order. Shoot me a PM.

******** man, 3500 buys you a very nicely done up Roundnose, ready to go.

Don't mean to piss in your cornflakes, but you're getting bent over badly on 3.5k for a freaking OEM hull.

Heck, if you're willing to wait, 3.5k buys you a nice aftermarket hull, too.

I do like the fact that Wamiltons now offers a wider hull design, not sure if WCF does? That was a big decision maker for me when buying the WDK REV. At the time he was the only one offering it.

what hull can you get for 3500?

I thought it was an ok deal?? man guess not...

it wasn't just the hull. I got foot holds, turf, scupper and pump set up for trim line and clearenced for trim.

I can still cancel the order...
