750 for a motor ready to go is still a good deal

and you should have tested it before you took it on vacation.... i run mine for at least an hour after working on it if i plan on leaving town.

who cares i agreed to 600 not 750

Where are the pics of the destruction? What proof do you have that this bad cylinder is the one he sent you and not the one you were replacing? It is also suprising that a snagged and broken ring ONLY did enough damage to be repaired by a simple bore and not resleeving. I work for a multi-line dealership as well and build engines all the time. Show the pics and give us proper evidence of the alledged improper chamfering.

Im going to. Camera battery was dead and i went riding tonight on the jet. I only own 1 750 motor and its the one i bought from him I never had a blown up motor. Like i said too it bogged like running on one cylinder so i went to shore and walked to back to the dock. The cylinder walls arent really that bad considering how the piston looks. They look bad but alot of it is melted aluminum stuck to it that will get cleaned right up with a bore.

Ya, that is helpful. Thanks for the info. My plan is to ask a little at a time and eventually I will know enough to work on the whole engine.

Sucks this happened but look at the bright side... I learned something. :beerchug:

Oh and i meant to say before this has been looking like i complained to paypal. I havent even filed a complaint. I thought me and him would be able to handle this mano y mano but i guess thats not going to happen and im going to forced to take a route i didnt want to take. I really thought that when i bought this motor from a known member on the X that it was going to be a legit deal and if problems like this arouse it wasnt going to be handled like a backyard redneck salvage yard. If the motor ran for a couple hours and blew up it might be different. It blew up from nothing that i had anything to do with.

I had to change mine too.

used motor: buyer assumes all responsibility especially when no guarantee or warranty is offered. You knew it was a "frankenstiened" motor before you concluded the sale.

I didn't know you could change the user title! I changed mine, but I think I might be 1/10 redneck, so I went with something different.

heres what he wrote

this is what he wrote after first recieving the motor
******** YOU THAT MOTOR IS GARBAGE I WANT MY ********NG MONEY BACK IM GOING THROUGH PAYPAL!!! Just kidding. Im very happy with it so far. The pistons and walls seem very clean and smooth. It did have one broken stud and i dont know what those 2 bolts are with the cylinder but i figured you snapped some studs or something. Thats all fine and dandy as long as it holds. Im pleased and thanks so much. i got her to fire up for a few seconds but the bolts i have for the exhaust arent long enough so im going to need to get some tomorrow. A+++

I'm thinking you pretty much just shot yourself in the foot here. You've agreed publicly that you said this and seemed pretty happy. Paypal is saying what you want to hear based solely on your side of the story. I imagine Wydopen is saving everything you're saying here and when Paypal sees this they're gonna realize you're telling a one sided story. Hate that YOUR USED motor blew up, but it happens. It certainly doesn't sound like anyone intentionally misled you. Sitdowns put a heavy load on motors. It may have been fine in a standup for years. What do you think the warranty on a used NO warranty motor should be?????????

Well, Wideopen came on here and posted a question on how to handle the situation. This is a $hity situation for both of you. He owes you nothing, but I'm sure he feels bad about the situation. I don't think he tried to pull one over on you. I have recieved many parts on here that didn't turn out to be quite what I expected, quality and/or condition. Buyer beware.

IMO both parties should sleep on this for a couple nights and take into account input from the board. (not comments like your an idiot, ect) Hopefully you can come to some compromise and work this out civily. Look at the big picture and don't get caught up BS from people rileing you up. At the end of the day is it really worth the worry and stress? my $.02
Why can't we all just ride along together?

WOW I didn't know that a motor had a warranty PERIOD. I know that SBT offers a warranty but that was all. It sounds like your SOL, Buying anything is a gamble and you just happen to loose at this one. I bought a motor with less than 5 hours on it and my 5mm stroker crank ate it's own bearings after about 8 gallons of fuel. Which in turn took out my NEW ADA cylinder and ate the piston and head in the process. So now my 850 motor will be closer to a 860. Not because I want it to but I bought it and it didn't hold together so I will have to PAY to get it fixed. It is a gamble and I lost. Just like you So suck it up go to the library and read the books you need until you can buy your own.
