There is no warenty on a used motor, but this was sold has fresh and it appears to be in the first pics. Poor bore/chamfering work on a fresh motor falls on the seller, I think. I had my cyl bored not too long ago and the guy did not chamfer very much, so I went back and did more myself. Poor chamfering is not something that you can really tell by pics. Seller may not have realized it either though.
Seller paying $75 towards a new piston and bore seems fair though (with damage pics). Case closed as far as I am concerned. All is well with the world and the universe is back in balance.

fresh as in broken in and ridden several times..if it was brand new never run id pay 100%

I sold a car a few years back that ran mint. It was a stupid acura integra with a few things done. Some dumbass kid bought it and blew it up like 25 days later. I didnt want to but I took the car back and had to sell it for half to someone else.

I was a little skeptical about the "engineers aren't very bright" comment a few pages back until I read this.

ok post the pics...you guys decide...if im in the wrong ill pay half...so lets see the pics...

As they say in South Park, "Hurray!!!"

what would you guys say if someone like yamaslut said

'dam, i just bought this engine that was supposedly just rebuilt and it blew up the first time i rode it and the guy i bought it from won't stand behind it and told me to go screw myself b/c i'm SOL, i just asked him to at least help me pick up the tab on the parts at my dealer cost'

i think 99.9% of you guys might say 'that seller is a dirtbag!!'

pics would definitely help. i'm assuming everything i've read so far is true, so, that aside, i stand behind my comments.

i'm out!

I would say: What caused the engine to blow? Let's see pics!

No different for anyone else.

Im going to post the pics. Im a busy person. Relax youll see them by the end of the day. He already offered to pay half which i think is fair enough so ill be satisfied. With half maybe i can borrow someones book and photocopy it Haha.

Whoa----I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I agree with Saki on this one. I think it would be the "right" thing for wydopen to at least help with a portion of the repair bill, provided that rideitlikeyoustoleit can provide some evidence of the lack of chamfering.

Whenever I have a problem with a sale, I do my BEST to rectify the situation.
then where is my flame arrestor?

Picture proof will go a long way. What would you do if I bought a motor from you and then improperly installed the intake gasket and lean seized it? Who should pay for that one? I'm pretty sure that would be my fault. What if I didn't show a pic and said it was a snagged ring or some other failure? There's some understandable skepticism here. We don't yet know what caused the failure and therefore I don't think anyone can say what should be done. Too much hypothetical at this point. I don't think too many people disagree that if the motor was in fact flawed then there should be some sort of compensation......we just don't know if it was flawed.

... I never intended to go through paypal...

In your very first message to wydopen stating that there was indeed a problem with the motor, you brought up paypal... I think that was bad on your part. You didn't even give him a chance to rectify the situation before bring out the big guns! :AR15firing: :AR15firing: :shooter3: :shooter3: :rocketwhore: :rocketwhore: It is in people's nature to get defensive when attacked like that.
