@ocdsolutions do you not have collets? I see end mills in drill chucks a 5c will get you within 2 thousands. That drill chuck maybe 5-6 if your lucky.

Thats another thing I think I take for granted sometimes, I haven't had to use hss endmills for over a decade. The 3 flute 5/8 carbide endmill I used on the steering was 200 bucks tho...

well this is not really a kit per say, I just called it that. I just bought everything you need from a company. I have seen people build the power supplies but I just bought one for a reasonable price. like everything these days the individual bits are reasonably priced but adds up once you have everything you need

I bought a set of 12 R8's to start but haven't gotten as far as setting them all up yet plus, I need to buy another 14 at least. Its a PITA to swap them without a power drawbar setup and I haven't really been doing any precision work yet that required that kind of tolerance.

My software has a tool database so once I have a collet for every tool, I'll take the time to set them all up.

Starting to think I should have spent the extra and gone with one of the quick change collet sets. I can buy 100 R8 collets for what a set of quick changes are worth though.

Dude nice set up. Like the gas bumps. Who needs Chaosfab huh? Major props mate!

The two big on going projects I have are my ski and my 4Runner. It's been a long learning experience and I get considerably better every year. I learned to weld on my plate bumper in the rear, and after that I fabbed a full armor package (front bumper, sliders, skids, etc.). My real pride is in the front suspension though, which I finished designing last year and then fabbed up and this summer spent a few months refreshing and improving everything. It's not the prettiest setup or the best (I hadn't ever even seen a long travel suspension in person prior to making one) but I'm proud of the abuse it's handled at 60mph offroad and some (imo) big jumps. I like building stuff more than anything, and I like the uniqueness factor and pride I have that you can't get from just buying stuff.

Started playing with a little project yesterday to help develop my programming skills.

Unfortunately I forgot all about the one little detail that the cartridge run needs to be undercut to keep them from popping up. Need to swing by Lowes and pick up a special router bit and rewrite the code.

I have a ryobi router and a project that would benefit from the router being table mounted. I saw this cool mobile work station at Home Depot when I was with my wife. I came home from work to find it in the living room.

It's an extremely nice table for $50 and I was very happy to get it. Unfortunately the "accepts most standard routers" applies to every router at Home Depot except the base model ryobi I have. I really like this table and didnt want to tryout exchange a perfectly good $60 router on a $130-230 router.

So I made an adapter... I don't have any fancy CNC mills but I managed to get the job done. Cost of materials was $3 for the plate and $1.50 hardware.

Just for the record, that stray hole lines up with the adjustment bar.

And here is the project I used it for. Christmas present for the inlaws who like to host parties. The game starts at 27" high. Cost of materials $25 for the game pieces. I hope to build a box and stain it.

That's an awesome idea. Giant Jenga is so much fun! You should have the blocks engraved with something clever

I was considering that but costs and whatnot. I did discover a low cost method to brand them but I would have to carve the brand from aluminum by hand. I'm not sure I could do an acceptable job by hand. I also couldn't pick anything better than the last name of the recipients.

How much time do you have into them at this stage? Are you planning to paint or lacquer them too?

At 5 minutes each, it would take around 5 hours to engrave a name into all of those on a machine like mine. If it wasn't so close to Christmas I would offer to help out but there's no way I could get it done in time and back to you.

That's a really cool idea though.

Love the work, can't say I would approve of removing the headlight though. At least 85% of the 6000+ miles I logged on my sled were after dark.

A lot of my friends have turbos on their sleds and ride them solely in the mountains during the daylight. They all have helmet mount LED lights for riding the trail down the mountain after dark. I might incorporate an LED mount as an option.
