Other What did you fab up today? A thread for the home fabricators!

thx that is great advise, but my skills in that department are ZERO , I can fab all the models of parts I need by hand but that's about as far as I go

Finally making some headway with fabbing up this years SEMA build . Will definitely use this to haul skis after!

Well I finally got around to assembling my aluminum work bench.

I collected all the material over the past 6 months and have about $150 in it. The bulk of the cost is in the 1/4” top. The rest was left over from past projects and just taking up space.

I had a steel one just like it years ago but it weighed so much I was forced to leave it behind when I moved to the US. I have been planning to build a lighter version for over 10 years now.

This one is 3’ x 6’, the top is 1/4” and the height is 36”. The weight is under 100 lbs.

I still have to finish up the bulk of the welding, add the bottom shelf and then machine some UHMW feet for it that will transfer solid blows without scratching my floors.

UHMW is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene.

High strength, self lubricating, industrial plastic and I have a bunch stashed away for just such things. I’ll turn it on the lathe so the feet press fit into the tubes and add 3/4” height between the tube and floor.

My resolution for this year was to finally work through all the material that I have stashed away and either complete the project it was intended for, or dispose of the related material.

So far I’m finding its better than therapy but I’m prioritizing projects based on need. It’s coming to a head though and soon I will be to the point where I just have to sell or dispose of the rest.

Bet you can't guess what this is (it's a tapered square on the inside)....

I was cleaning out stuff and my daughter saw the decor. She got excited for Christmas so I 3D printed a stand that would allow me to use the top 3ft pre-assembled section of our Christmas tree into a freestanding tree (The rest of the tree is 9 rows to be assembled about 7ft tall). She loved decorating it.

Made a prototype fly wheel cover for a Kawasaki Tecate. Turned in to an order of 27 parts. Let me know if there’s any trike guys on her that want one!!
