Sometimes those frivolous projects are needed to clear the mind for the real stuff. Even though it was work building it, since it’s not needed you could consider it play.

“When your hands are busy, your mind gets right!”

My home has always been my sanctuary and must offer enough serenity to offset the stresses of my career. The pond in the backyard is a huge stress reliever for us. It’s an ever changing backdrop of peacefulness that we enjoy daily.

There were a few years when I first moved to the US where I did not own a home and riding and building skis was that sanctuary but that changed when I bought our first home in Savannah.

I am at the point where I do want to ride again but I am fat and lazy and our skis have been sitting forever. Pretty sure I don’t fit into any of my riding gear either.

I took a bit of a swim today as well. 13 cameras on the exterior of our house and would you believe that only one caught it off in the back corner?

I was coming ashore with the platform in tow and the dinghy flipped over and pitched me azz over teakettle as I tried to climb out on shore.

I'm sticking with the Cooter. I found only one pic of a juvenile common mud turtle that had the same stripes and hundreds more than don't look anything like these.

Meanwhile, ever turtle on the Cooter page looks like ours.

We ended up with 8 of the buggers on the platform at days end so it looks like I will be building a bigger Island!

Decided the platform was going to be too small for all the turtles that showed up so I whipped up “Turtle Island” Version 2.slow today.

I got one of my initial measurements wrong and the platform ended up being smaller than I had wanted. In my head, the platform was supposed to be 36x36” but it ended up being only 26x26”

I made the ramps 12” with the bulk of the area below the surface for easier boarding but I really wish I had stuck with 10” and gained the extra area for the platform.

It ended up being a lot of odd cuts which took way longer than anticipated. I didn’t get any pics of the wrapped unit as I was rushing to get it in the water before it got too dark.

Back to doing real work in the garage today but first, I had to replace a lamp in our range hood.

I bought LED replacements and the face of the bulb is bigger and the trim ring doesn’t fit.

Good thing I own a lathe.
