We get the old...

"we should do some tow-ins with it" from the local surfers. My response is usually "Sure, but I'm not paying for your new arms, and you'll have to pay for my new top end"

Unortunately I then have to spend the next 20 minutes explaining why towing with a stand up isn't a good idea.

I also had a guy ask if it goes under water, I said yes, and explained what a sub was. they looked at the thing like it was some new high end piece of equipment

Is this a Kawalski 550 ? I said yes it is but its Japanese not Polish. He says my friend has a 440 and I bet its faster than yours, I said yeah ? he says yeah he put a cam in it. I walked away .

Fortunately, I've never had anyone ask me that.
Never had anyone make funny comments, either. :(

I like when people ask if they can take it for a spin, what do i care i have a 550. My classic response is you can try, not many make it far before coming back with the ashamed look on their face. I also liked this old guys response to me saying actually they just stopped making them. His reply " yea probably because of all the people getting sick of the noise"

Most of the time it starts with "I remember when", or "I always wanted to". My response is usually the same....OK great have a nice day BRAAAAP.....

its not really what they say but what they do...I ride on a lake with a lot of fisherman and (without even bothering or provoking them at all) some like to throw stones, cast their lines out at us, or come park their boat right in the middle of our path to boat wakes and call us A-holes and tell us to F-off...

When people do point and talk about the skis I usually can't understand it because they are speaking spanish, and then they hop on their couch and go full throttle through the no wake zone off into the horizon...

Meanwhile, the DNR / park ranger gives me constant reminders that I can't even sit on my knees and give it just enough gas to balance myself through the no wake zone. I have to lay flat in the water and let ski drag me... I guess its because I actually understand English that they feel they can get onto me (and I have a valid drivers license so they actually issue a ticket)...

*not trying to pick on the illegals here... my wife is foreign and I have been through the immigration process i knows its a pain. but still....

All of the above.....lol. A fairly common question not yet posted: "Can you fish off of that thing?"

It's actually a shame that so few people are familiar with what we do.
