Just wait it out man. He might just tell your hull is ready in a few days . And say either cash back or this Fresh Hull, you choose.. You never know.

Sorry, but i really don't believe he have a hull ready in a few days. If so, why wouldn't he write that to me. He answers maybe 1 out of 10 messages, when i ask how we set this straight. But please answer me on this one, i might be wrong.
I paid 5500usd in september 2013, the hull is postponed and Steve tells me, if now ready to ship by december you can get your money back. Now its feb 2014, and i would like MY money back, that sits in Steves pocket. Dosent i have the right to get my money back?

Just got a message from Steve saying he won't respond to me, at fb anymore, because m blowing it up. So if i want to square it, i should call him. So i will call him when i get onshore again (as I'm offshore now at work)

Perhaps. I just feel bad for the guy, missing out on a whole riding season due to broken promises. How could you not agree if what Christian is saying is true and this were happening to you? After reading the WDK thread right next to this one, it's hard not to draw parallels...

It's hard to say what's really going on, as there are three sides to every story. But, I would have to agree with you. At this point I know if only a few ways I would buy hulls new. Straight from a select few builders, or from someone like thrust, with skis in stock. Not saying I would count Steve out, as he may be late, but he's still promising Christian a hull he's still developing. I would have gone the different route and just stuck with a chan for this reason alone. Then I probably wouldn't go with the flashy paint to cut down some more time. Steve's only flaw (get ready fir another opinion) is communication. But he does address his problems and work to correct them. The fact that he was replacing hulls really puts him into another category. He could have said "it's my first batch, we'll fix the next ones. Fix yours yourself." I think (opinion number 2 here) if he fixed his communication, a lot more people would be sending him money. I've yet to hear someone say a chan rode like $h!t. Good luck Christian. I hope you two come up with a resolution.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steve already spent this guys money and now he couldn't refund him if he wanted to. He built hulls basically for free for a year and then had to build numerous replacements also for free. He has a lot of bills to pay. Plus he just had a kid. $5,500 is a lot of money to just have lying around for months on end... Just sayin, it's a possibility. And there's no way we'll ever know. I'm sure he would deny this. Maybe he needs someone else to pay for a hull before he can send him the money. Like a f'ed up pyramid scheme.

Yeah, that's how most builders work.. You send them money and they USE it to build hulls/parts. Most builders (the ones I have worked with anyway) take deposits to order materials etc. To expect him to have the original $5500 sitting in an account months later just in case he backs out is kinda ridiculous. I'm not taking sides or saying he should or shouldn't do whatever, obviously I hope it all gets worked out, just trying to help explain how this whole deposit thing works most of the time.

So you're saying builders are always a $5k+ in the hole? That they depend on new orders to fund old ones? That's bass ackwards and the definition of poor business practices. There's no way any legitimate hull builders do that.

I have enough carbon to build 10 skis and I have 55 gallon drums of resin ... I wouldn't say I'm in the hole!!! If you would like your more then welcome to come take a shop tour
