Super Jet What tubbies

NVJAY775

My home away from home.
A buddie of mine has a RN and wants to get it to get it to carve a bit. Do tubbies help, if so which ones do you guys recommend? Lots of SXR's in the area. He used to race 550's years ago and is just looking for some pointers on his set up.

He picked up the ski from a guy that sent it to Riva for a build. (ski is freaky clean) Not sure on all specs, but it has 64 cases, 61x cyl, riva head with a few sets of domes, modded 38's, Riva pipe, mag pump, and a ton of other random Riva parts. Not that all that matters, just throwin it out there.

Thanks in advance fellas!

Tubbies absolutely help - heck, they make SJ carving possible (for the less skilled).
I have experience only with the Tubbie II's. They were great for flatwater carving, though.

I ran the destroyer tubbies. Yes, it carved so hard it would almost make my legs give out. The destroyers are nice because if the pipe is out and tank is out it's like a 20 min. install.

Tubbie IIs were on my ski when I bought it. Otherwise I would go with TOM21 (bigger, longer, easier to install)

I love my #zero/tom21 sponson's! For hitting the waves sponson's and a d-cut are a nice combo, but when I slap an extended rideplate on my ski, it carves like mad!

Destroyers x5. I helped install them on a friends ski and it took about 1 hour from start to finish including taking the pipe and tank out.

Destroyers x6. Easy install, excellent finish like all other blowsion product. Make a huuuuuuge difference when trying to carve bouys. Night and day difference

i bought a roundnose with tubbies and i cant hardly ride it.the tubbies are glassed in and when i try to legdrag around a bouy,it subs the front.it subd the front if i just turn too sharp.really gotta shift my weight. is that because of the tubbies?

if you want a pre 08 superjet to carve tubbies are a must, and if you are riding bouys or going to race once or twice add a extended ride plate like a r and d or worx

i can tell a big difference between tubbie 1s and destroyers...destroyers are too big and bouyant imo...the front end rides too high at low speed and i cant get a rail set at high speed like i can with my tubbie 1s....ive ridden several of my friends skis that are pretty much identical to mine but with destroyers instead of 1s....bigger isnt always better..and for you weight weenies they are super heavy

Glad to see this thread. A few months ago I asked the same question. I've not yet installed tubbies.
The replys I got seemed a lot more application-specific. I ride surf and pearl.....well..often. The tubbies, going by member input, that would help me the most were Destroyers.
I assume you ride mostly flat-water....and yet, Destroyers seem to be the weapon of choice.

Dan, you should have rode my ski with Tubbie II's... Also I really like cutting the lip on the rear bond line. It lets the back end sink (bringing the nose up) plus you can rail the ski better.
