Other When is it to cold to ride?

I always wonder though if super cold water is bad for the motor. I mean that extream cold going into hot cases seems like something might crack


Anyone ever run into problems before?

I'd like to see pictures of all the pissers people are doing. I'd like to re rout my sj to where i can see it

I have done footholds before that the hose for the footwarmers went through the end (toe area)of the foothold through the foam . then the hose was connected ( to the pisser or water bypass for Suzie) when it was cold out

dude, read. Yes warm up the motor, and then monitor how your motor is running with the handlebar warmers. when you blast the throttle hard, and then let off the throttle a bit, then gas it again, you can feel how the motor will heat up and cool rapidly, this is why you use an adj. restrictor so that you can keep your motor hot and hopefully reduce the amount of temp variances it has.

I wasn't asking if i should warm my motor up, I warm my motor up when its 105 outside. I was stating how that could happen because the motor should be warmed up. Maybe you should be the one that should read. No where did i ask if i should warm up my motor.

its better than big words and little pictures, lol. stating or asking? whatever. warm the motor up and try to setup the flow of engine cooling to be hot and not luke warm. As the temps drop i close off the valve a bit at a time so the motor will run at operating temps. In the summer i just remove it and tuck it up in the nose of the ski. I have never cold seized a motor and i run Wiseco pistons. hope this helps

If the water or air temp is under 80 I wouldn't risk it, it just isn't worth the risk of hypothermia .

X2.. I ride Memorial to Labor Day and that is pushing it sometimes. I had to wear a spring suite once and did not enjoy myself. If the wife can't wear a bikini it's too cold to be out there.....

When the water freezes both my throttle cable and my lanyard post.

Ha, I have a friend that had is throttle cable freeze one time. That was a bad deal.

I usually apply the 80 degree rule. The water temp and air temp need to add up to 80 for me to ride.

Nope.

Just blow out the water. All you need to do.
