I saw a black guy at the last Daytona ride. Not sure if he rode a blaster or stand up, but nevertheless he was riding in the surf!!

I also live in N.Texas, and it's common for me to see blacks/ islanders (I would say African American but that's not really accurate either), on couches. But yeah, not so much on standups...

But I was talking to my wife about a similar topic the other day, when I was a younger (I'm 34) I don't recall that group being into motorcycles or hotrods/racecars. Today, there are just as many (in this area) participating in both. Her explaination is that because of the educational opportunities provided to non-caucasian college students mean that families that were 'stuck' in poverty are now productive participants of the middle class. So maybe, as that group becomes more educated and successful we'll see more participation.

I ride with a black guy. Well he's basically white but a friend and I helped get Chase here into the sport about a year ago. I
only have the one picture of when he figured out his sj had a bad seal. He's a pretty good rider and is steadily progressing at it. He's not a cold water guy tho. Funny thread tho, haven't seen any others besides chase.

Not really a "trainwreck". It's a perfectly legitimate question that merits discussion, and varying opinions. If you don't like it, ignore it.

I have spotted a few on couches and boats but never on a standup or on water skis. Probably cultural as much as any other reason.

billy womack won the endurance race in the 90s on a polaris couch.cant remember what year.yes a brotha on the water.but on a couch.definately one in a million. good discussions.so i gather most dont know how to swim for whatever reason.

Billy Womack won more than one race. He was dominant for a few years in the offshore/endurance scene. He was a rep for Polaris and also an airline pilot. Very nice guy. He helped me out big time back 02 at the LB2Cat race. I had a cracked pipe the day before the race, he took me back to his house and rewelded it. Those were couches, as for standups, I had a couple of black guys try to ride my ski several years ago. It was not pretty. One guy ended up with his shorts around his ankles.

ok thats the best one yet.i really am trying to be PC here,but i really never see the brothas on skiis.there was a black guy at my job that was training for a triathalon at joe pool lake Monday evening.dude was in top shape and still drowned.found his body yesterday.sad stuff but maybe they really cant swim?

It's not even winter yet and the immaturity is is starting to show.... commenting on how you can't comment shows your guys inteligence.There a few minorities out there that ski... Black, Hispanic, Asian, etc. and even frequent this forum. If I was them I'd be a little peaved to see some of my brethren's comments and where this topic is going to go.

ive had a handful of brothas ax me to ride my ski at daytona while walking by the ski zone. I told everyone of them "sure" and not one took the offer. i bet they could excel at it quite fast despite not knowing how to swim....that actually might make them ride even better....kind of like when its winter and you dont want to fall and freeze, so you stick every landing perfect
maybe this weekend ill bribe one into a ride just to add a pic to this thread
