There was a post within the past two months where someone used something like that to remove turf. It had like a scrapper/saw blade looking attachment. And the tool just vibrated apparently. Taking turf off all in one piece is the $hit! You might even be able to reuse it.

This thing would peel turf off like spreading butter.

I pulled off an entire tray area clean with my fein ....
Definately a tool to have if you can afford it

the cutting wheel is so accurate a,nd the dust is minimal compared to a traditional grinder.

Nice work on your build

Has anyone tried the Dremel version of the multimaster? I know it is prob not as good but it is a fraction of the price.

I love watching builds like this. Keep up the good work!

Wow, That's a TON of work already done and a ton left also. Looking good though.

I'm wondering how cold it is when you go out to work on it in your unheated garage/tent in NJ. Brrrr

This is the pimpest tent around. I have a INDOOR rated (o2 sensor'd) 35,000btu propane heater, that gets pretty good milage for longterm heat. And a 60,000BTU propane blower heater for anytime resin is out. I can get the tent over 105F in under 5mins. I also have a carbon monoxide detector in there just to be safe, but the tent is vented 1.5" around the bottom so it gets good airflow. Best part about it is that I dont have to worry about making a huge mess in a garage. Lay a cheap carpet down and spray/spill, dust, dirt, whatever. Shop vac the carpet and toss it at the end of the season. Thats very convienient for work with gelcoat and stinky resins.

Sprayed the last layer of duratec on the topdeck plug today. FINALLY sanding with something finer then 120grit. Have it about 50% done at 220, then going to do 400, then wetsand with 600,1000,1500 & 2000. If all goes 100% to plan, there is a remote chance I might be laying up the first skim layers of the mold next Sunday/Mon.

Last decision I have to make. Do I cheap out and make the mold with chopmat/poly, or go for quality and use cloth and epoxy....:ugh:

Lastly....Here is a duratec cupgun application tip for anyone interested. Heat the plug surface up to 70-80F, and the duratec to 70F BEFORE you apply. Thin 5% with lacquer thinner. 1.75%MEKP. Mix really well with drill mixer. Crank the pressure up to 65-70psi. Then apply SUPER HEAVY. Right before the point its going to run. Its the best way to get smooth results with a cupgun. Minimal orange peel this time (whew!)

Get tooling gel coat and use polyester resin. The tool gel coat comes in black or orange, and it's really strong. No need to use expensive stuff, chop strand mat will do. Just make it thick, so it won't flex or warp.

You didnt have issues with shrinkage/warping? On my first rideplate mold I had slight warpage and the plates would come out screwed up. And that was only adding 3layers at a time to the mold. I have 50+yards of 1.5oz chopmat and 10gallons of polyester resin, because that was the original plan....so its paid for to do a poly mold. If I go with epoxy/cloth, there is almost no concern about shrink/warpage, but it just costs a :):):):)load more. Being its my first large mold I might build it with poly, that way if I dont like the way it comes out I am not out alot of money. I have till the weekend to decide.

I haven't had any problems with warping. I'd leave the mold on the plug for close to a week for post cure before pulling it, just to reduce the chance of warping.

Usually warping problems are due to applying too much glass-resin at a time, the heat buildup will sometimes cause it to warp,if you do it in several layups the chances of warping are greatly diminished, also leaving the plug in the mold for a week or so is a good idea,a couple of more things you might want to consider when making the mold. You might want to leave a port somewhere to inject high pressure water or air to help separate the plug from the mold, since PVA is dissolved with water ,water pressure also works really well to separate the two components.

I plan on doing no more then 3 layers at a time, and leaving the mold on the plug for over a week once I am done adding layers. This afternoon I bought the fittings I am going to glass in for air/water injection/wet sand drain. Took a trip down to South Jerz composite heaven and bought 4 gallons of duratec for the rest of the project....And also picked up Hawkeye's Aqua-Buff 2000 plug compound for the polishing on Sunday. I have all the supplies for the mold. Plug is fully sanded to 220, and I am about 15% of the way through the 400 grit. Wetsanding @ 600/1000/1500 starts Friday. If the weather is acceptable I will be starting the tooling phase on the topdeck Monday!! Moving along slowly....but moving.
