Fixed it, moved my ground cable from right side of engine over to connect to one of the starter mounting bolts. Starts strong now.

Actually it looks like I already have a PJS extended ride plate, it extends just over an inch from the back of the hull. I'll try shimming it. Will stainless steel washers work for this?

If the ski looks good, and you are fed up with the one you have, then why not do it... at least you can ride. I have an 88 440 myself.. but you have to ask why he wants to trade a running jet ski with a bunch of aftermarket parts on it for one that isn't...? It might end up being a project also.

I have a 1988 440, and it had the exhaust on the left front. Previous owner glassed over the hole and ran a rear exhaust, but I can see clearly where the old hole was for it. Maybe it was the 550 that had it on the right?

Yeah I'm using one now, with my wooden stand on top of it.. but it's a little sketchy, stupid castors will never rotate when you want then to.

Looking for a scissor stand that I can move my JS-440 around on in my garage. All of the stands I find on ebay say "In water use only". What's the deal with that? Will they A) be narrow enough for a JS440, and B) support the weight on dry land? Thanks!
