i ran a K&N paper type with an outwears on my boat for a while. i noticed that while the K&N did let water in more often it also cleared and started running right sooner than when i take a big gulp with the stock arrestor. *shrug* that beings said i still run the stock type.
keeps the nose up. easier to ride around in surf.
also yes, its much losser in the back to slide around as well.
takes some getting used to...i prefer a d cut now that i am though.
harder to ride? yes id say the SJ's are harder to ride than the newest kawi aka the sxr. but not any harder than some of the older kawi hulls. it is also much more rewarding though once you do get riding down. imo its not all about "easiest" so much as getting to the riding style and competance...
Polaris makes the octane. its a very nice ski with a lot of the mods you would want on a superjet done already from the factory. Although they are quite hard to find and expensive if you do.
for a first ski i would get an older style SN superjet. you can find one for cheap and put some money...
sticking to strictly these two options without thinking of getting the bigbore ported i would use the ported stock bore.
good porting work is worth a lot more power than a couple of cc's on the stock ports.
Absolutely! like i said, no offense meant. i was just trying to help you learn by pointing you in the right direction. sorry if it came across a little harsh, not how i meant it at all. :-)
i think thats partly true. but they also cant cut too good of a deal or it would get blabbed about and everyone would expect the same price. ie they would never be able to charge nearly a normal port job fee ever again.
$300 is on the cheap side but it can be had i would imagine.
