Your pole will break @ the base. Look for an aftermarket alu pole.

Seal it up. If the pump suck air it's like neutral and not going or need help to get going. Silicon all the way around the pump and the front part of the ride plate.

Had the Hammer 96 kit in my superjet with dual 44, the short pipe, MSD ignition and waterinjection. It would jump out of the water when doing starts, with me up and over the pole and I’m +200lbs and 6.5. It was always running strong till the day it eat a stock reed.

Did you snap a shaft? If you striped the splines in the midshaft, Im sure you would have seen more metal then you like, when you took it apart.
