Hey looking for tube joiners like the ones in the first blurry picture attached as it zoomed in. I dont weld so want to bolt together tubes to make a tote.
Anyone know if they are an off the shelf product you can buy. I can only find joiners so far like the ones in the second pic.
Are u saying because of more carbon on rear cylinder it was imdicates running lean and caused detonation via heat.
Wierd as both carbs rebuilt not that long ago. After water got in motor i cleaned both carbs out. Both carbs had same screw settings for hi and lo.
I will have to check cyl specs...
Anyway here is the problem. rings gone mostly and scoring on rear piston. see pics. also top of piston worn on edges looks like from combustion.
I am not sure if its from piston seizing or from detonation. I was thinking because my flywheel and stator where so dirty maybe the timing got thronn...
Also several of the head bolt studs snapped. I pulled all the studs as they not all in good condition. Had to heat most of them to get em to move. Can i just buy stainless bolts to use as head bolts. I tried some hex head ones but they squeaked as i torqued them so i stopped. The head dome nuts...
i found the problem got a compression tester. Drive shaft end cylinder. 30 PSI. Front cylinder 150 PSI. So with load on water in virtually on 1 cylinder of power.
Only issue is i have not found the reason for the compression being wrong yet. I have only pulled the head and not the cylinders so...
I checked reeds when i pulled carbs. Also thought this symptom would occur on trailor with broken reed. Also thought back fires would occur.
It running on two cylinders on trailer. I mentioned i ran it with hood off in water
and it didnt sound like a miss fire on one cylinder to me.
Havnt...
The ski runs fine through all rev ranges on the trailer dry. As soon as i put it in water it wont start easily and it runs like a dog and only low range revs and throttle pretty much stalls it.
So i have done the following
- Checked for exhaust leaks. Could not find any
- Pulled carbs fully...
Ok. i found it. Was pissing water in between the metail exhaust tube through the hull and the exhaust flange. As bird pointed out it seems salt water can sit there. I flush it out very well but i guess if ya dont have a dain plug in the back some salt is sitting there. Anyway cant replace...
I got an sxr 800 with a brand new versi plug scupper in the drain plug hole. I replaced the rubber scupper in case it was the problem. This aint leaking.
When ski engine is not running and ski is sitting in water there is water coming out of the drainage hole on the left side orientation...
Found the problem. Broken bendix. See the pics. Think its called a flyweight locator plate. Part of it broken off and it cracked through. Is causing bendix to not spin on its inner cog.
The starter motor sounds like it spinning and bendix in flywheel gear. Starter motor gear and the bendix gear locked in and no wear on teeth on these. But flywheel aint turning. So seems as though bendix is turning on starter gear but not transferring power to flyweel gear end of the bendix
