got some sizzle today, not sure if I have my best low end combo yet
1 turn top
1/2 mid
3/4 bottom
Took a long time to get back to this combination slowly turning 1/4 in from before. I had lost 2 b-pipe couplers to overheating last year and ended up with the conservative adjustment above...
My octane was "stock" when I bought it according to owner. Every octane I have see has a mod chamber factory pipe. They have all been 02 or 03 boats. Did 04 have a different chamber?
I had a B pipe on a 650 that I thought was a 701 chamber but turned out to be a FX-1 chamber. So I understand...
Shot of what the foam looked like. I personally don't recommend cutting your tray and re foaming unless you feel like doing a lot of work. Drain plugs in the back of the hull or possible firewall would be much easier / cheaper. They wouldn't get all of the water but allow some to drain.
the scary part...
Put new bearings and seals in the driveshaft bearing assembly after started to leak water into the hull. Noticed not much foam was in the front part of the tray near the bulkhead. This probably contributed to the heavy feel on the ski when the bearing seal assembly started to go.
Yes, the gaps between and on either side of the hood latch are for air to enter. Yes water will enter also if you submerge the watercraft. Just keep and eye on the bilge pump stream after you have submerged the watercraft. To prevent too much water from getting into your hull try not to submerge...
For Bottom end power on an octane motor what set screw combination on your "b pipe" have proven to be the best?
I currently have my top screw 2 turns open, middle and bottom 1 turn each open. My pipe does not sizzle when water dripped on it after riding for a few minutes but is warm. Can still...
Impeller
Installed a 12/19 (recommended freestyle impeller)
Lost noticeable top end, and expected more bottom end hit. I think it gives it a little. This is with stubby pump cone and 85 mm reduction ring.
Octane Stock Intake Grate Vs. Octane Worx Intake Grate...
Worx Seems to work better but hangs lower than stock by just a little bit. Probably to claw / hook up better. Kind of annoying if you plan on driving up onto the beach.
What does everyone run? I was thinking of going back to stock.
Just a guess, but they are probably going to kick ass.
Are those the stock air filter cups? Its almost like they were designed for those carbs since there is a smooth transition / no ledge.
Not to crazy about the stance. I am sorta used to the staggered stance.
I had the opportunity to try XFT footholds and kinda liked them. Wasn't used to the ski I was on so couldn't really try them out but I might end up eventually going with those.
There were no clearence issues with the exhaust pipe when installed in this location:
Rode this weekend with them and my first impression was they were quite unconfortable. I added some soft foam on top of the hydroturf. It is basically 3/4" circular pipe insulation flatened out and attached...
Oh yeah the turf job came out pretty bad. Multiple pieces around the curved part of the footholds. The turf just has to last the rest of the summer then I will probably replace it with the diamond style that is prob easier to stretch.
This is what it used to look like. The previous owners...
