If you put the flywheel in the freezer for a few hours, pull it out and run a torch in circles, just on the ring gear it will fall right off. No press required and no damage. Can install the new one easily with the same principle.

I agree with Nate on just glassing it. The only way I might recommend going with a core material is if you're going to vacuum bag, otherwise I'm sure you'd end up with some serious voids in your layup.
