Easiest way to find where your hull is leaking water at the back is to fill it up to the bond line with a garden hose and see where the water is leaking out. Just don't fill it high enough that the water goes in the carbs, obviously.
The last few times I installed them I used a heat gun to warm them up and it made it so much easier! I was kicking myself for not thinking of that earlier.
Did you get water in the motor by chance, since the hull had a lot of water in it? Try pulling the plugs and turning it over with no compression and see if that changes anything. Just make sure you hold the stop button while you do it so it's not sparking and burning out your coils.
