My pump to shoe alignment. If I lift the back of the pump up that much the driveshaft touches the hole in the hull. Should I just shim back the shoe?

Not much forward progress to speak of. Have made several bottom decks that I am not happy with, too many air pockets that just wouldnt come out. So now my yard Is filling up bottom decks. Will be trying again soon. I will say the pump area with all of the angles and curves is quite difficult.

I thought I remembered seeing a flapper style waterbox somewhere on this site. That the flapper closes when water tries to come back up the exhaust, i seem to remember it slowed the water rushing into pipe. Anyone know of this or am I just dreaming?
