Just my opinion, just don't get a hull that is so tiny that you can't ride it. You'll get used to the power in no time, but if your balance sucks, a tiny freestyle hull wont be fun for awhile. Send it on the engine, get as big as you can afford, especially if someone is just going to set it up...
I'm in the exact same group now where the standups were sold, used mastercraft purchased. We ski, so its definitely a lot cheaper but I do agree with everything you just said. Building a squarenose now again at least!
Right I’m just making the comparison to another market where wake boats used to be about actually wakeboarding, which the new boat buyer is doing 2% wakeboarding 98% status symbol.
I actually agree with this. Look also at the wakeboat market. The lowest possible base model is $150k now all the way up to 500 which is double from just a couple years ago. All that to do some surfing? The top end models are selling to filthy rich no problem, but who’s continuing to buy the mid...
For racing what is the cost of a fully setup GP open class standup? I would imagine it starts with a brand new SXR1500 to take parts from. What about Sitdown?
Spare parts are not free, at some point they were paid for. No matter what you are putting at least another $2k worth of spare parts in to make it work whether you have them now on the shelf or not.
PARTS NEEDED FOR COMPLETION:
Throttle cable adaptor for lever
Bilge pump switch
Internal fill neck for tank.
Engine mounts
Engine and electronics
Midshaft/ I have one but it is junky.
Long hose for exhaust is too small for the upgraded exhaust tube but comes with the ski
I would argue its more...
Couple of things left. Looking for some random parts that I would trade for. RN chin pad, 61x stator, bendix, battery box, bilge pump bracket, turn nozzle, pump cone, maybe other stuff.
I know it’s your life goal to talk poop to everyone but you might consider the scenario that this guy doesn’t always ride 50 yards from the landing and perhaps he needs the ski to be better on fuel so he can go further.

In all seriousness, this seems like a good win for the little guy with gov overreach. Although I'm sure it has nothing to do with the little guy and all to do with the big influential companies upset that people don't use their service anymore.

Hilariously ironic.
"Soupman, the New York City food company made famous by the popular Seinfeld TV sitcom, has sought bankruptcy court protection, weeks after its chief financial officer...
I mean that looks like a glorified bicycle helmet. Maybe its enough, maybe its not. If you're really worried, why not just run an MX helmet where itll be DOT certified at least.
For sure, I am just talking about a replacement part that is a knock off for another OEM or something. Not a part you have contracted out to a manufacturer.
