Other What did you fab up today? A thread for the home fabricators!

I have a wetjet 46mm intake setup with the oddball stud spacing. I've previously just elongated the holes on standard gaskets, but it's hard to make it centered and not block the carb throat. I've been getting into cerakoting recently and got a cheap cricut vinyl cutter to make stencils for...

    Lowered nose piece

Mine is held in place with a 1/2" long stainless wood screw on each side in the rear. The stock bracket made it sit too low so I deleted it and filled the holes. The front is held on with a 1" stainless bolt with a piece of fuel line cut to length for the proper spacing.

    Bizarre Issue With 92 XP

Yes, but yamahas breadbox exhaust is what kills the power, while seadoo comes with a tuned exhaust. My single 46 701 w/ b pipe has gotta be 80hp+ and a single 46 is rated for 90hp. Keep it simple, reeds work and no need for dual carbs on a 587 IMO. I had a 95 seadoo speedster with twin 657x...

    Bizarre Issue With 92 XP

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll pull it back apart, measure RV clearance without the O ring, swap the pop off springs and get a proper o ring. The fuel selector is already bypassed. Gotta love Seadoo, 2 carbs and a rotary valve that takes 2 hours to remove, all to make a whopping 60 Hp lol...

    Bizarre Issue With 92 XP

I know this isn't a stand up, but I'm nearly out of troubleshooting options here. I've been trying to fix a 92 XP 587 twin carb for a buddy. The ski last ran a couple years ago and started having issues. He replaced the carbs with a used set that was allegedly already rebuilt. It ran very poorly...

    Fuse install

Like this, it runs from the battery side on the solenoid to the harness on the top right of this pic. I replaced mine with a mini ATM fuse holder. They're more commonly available than glass fuses. You can buy one at autozone for about $6, or a 10 pack on Amazon for $10. Solder and heatshrink the...

    Ebox screws?

My local Ace hardware had some screws that matched, but they weren't stainless. They still have the same weird oversized phillips. I just use a small impact driver and push down hard. I haven't stripped any since.

    Need Custom Sponson advice

Yes they're contoured to the SJ hull and only need a little pressing down on the ends to sit flush. I was told they were made by CarterB but I haven't seen any sponsons by him. They look like the ones Zero made. I haven't really heard of a surf vs race sponson but I imagine they're for surf /...

    62t 61x reverse engineering/billet machining

For sure, I haven't had it happen to me, but it seems to happen to a lot of others. I don't ride salt either. Either way after a couple dozen times going together and coming apart over 15 years, plus salt water, the threads are prone to being wallowed out or getting cross threaded. It would be...

    62t 61x reverse engineering/billet machining

$540 for enough material to make cases isn't bad and even $1500 for a set of cases is a great deal. Especially considering a certain company sells them for twice that. My head pipe cracked and they seem to be the most sought after part of the system, so I'm guessing it's a relatively common...

    62t 61x reverse engineering/billet machining

Making the head pipe in pieces seems doable. Make the inner jacket in 2 halves with the flanges made onto them. Then machine a set of dies to press each half of the outer jacket into shape out of some ~1/8 aluminum sheet. Out of curiousity, what is the wholesale cost on aluminum billets this...

    Broken Collarbone

Thanks, I really appreciate your input. Honestly you've given me more useful info than my surgeon. I have been taking calcium with a little vit. D in it, but I got some D3 5000 IU as per your recommendation. No bone pain or anything at this point, still have a stiff neck though. Coming out of...

    Noob w/ 2020 SJ

No need for the expensive oils honestly. Many get away with the Walmart Supertech for ~$14 a gallon. I use the Quicksilver semi synthetic which is ~$20 a gallon at Wally World. The best deal on a "premium" oil is the Quicksilver full synthetic which is ~$40. As said, no need for a bilge pump...

    DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

Most of my issue on the new stuff is just with the computers. At least cars have the standardized OBD II port where you can get most of your info without a factory computer. Powersports and other industries, not so much. On a lot of this new stuff it's almost impossible to just find the problem...

    Broken Collarbone

After really studying the x ray it looks like the main part is barely touching in the center and the rest is separated pretty bad. Not sure what the growth rate of the bone is but that's a pretty big gap to fill. I'm going back for a follow up but I guess it will be pushing 3 months at least...

    Broken Collarbone

Thanks for the input guys. I've broken my wrist twice and cracked my foot when I was younger. Never wore the inflatable boot, my dad dremeled the cast off my arm both times and I didn't go to the crazy expensive physical therapy as recommended. It's all mostly good, but with enough force they'll...

    Broken Collarbone

Well I knew I should've just stuck to skis. Took the ol KDX out for a ride last week and ate it coming off a jump. Landed fine, but pointing towards a log. Clipped it at a 45, went over some melon sized rocks and fell on my side probably going 20 or so. Broke my left collarbone clean in two...
