Google conversion ski and you will find a bunch of builds including mine. I should mention Rhaas products conversion ski kits and soon to be released 750 pump adapter kits so you can run a 140mm 750 kawi pump in the 550 without having to do any glasswork.

This is the length mine started and I'm about 1" shorter now on my RokR. Not much will show when you get done.

The nipple will roll around in the water jacket and you can shake it around to come out one of the water inlet fittings. Drilling is not easy, the screws are hard. I used a carbide end mill and did get it bored through then chased the threads. Good luck.

Yes you can. You will need a conversion plate so that you can bolt your motor into the Yamaha and you will need a matching coupler. I got my coupler setup at ColdFusion but a ADA makes them as well.
