image.jpeg So yesterday I messed with the spare 61x motor. I did a compression test it had 150/155 psi. in the cylinders. I would take apart and redo seals and gaskets when I find the next ski. So I took off the exhaust and pulled the starter to get ready to rebuild it also. Was going to order an AM one but since the casing on this was still good, I've decided to rebuild it myself.

does anyone know if the 760 or 61x reed petals are compatible? The 650, 61x, 62t n 760 all have different part numbers but I don't know if they can be interchanged.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Rebuilt or cleaned up the starter today. First it was pulled totally apart. Everything was either wire wheeled or wire brushed and scraped to get any crud off. Sprayed all down with electrical cleaner and air blown to dry. A excellent video on YouTube to watch is by "theoverengineer". He walks through the steps very well. Put back together and sealed it up with permatex ultra black and gave it a few coats of appliance epoxy black paint. I ended up using razor blades to hold the springs out to reinstall the armature. Be careful if you do this. It's what I had best laying around.

Lol, thanks. I'm sure it won't be perfect but I do want it to look good. Just my nature. I have some pics floating around of my Kawasaki 750 sx which I called the "copper penny" n my first ever ski Kawasaki js 440 which I pulled out of the woods and rebuilt from the ground up. My WB2 looked cool too but I don't think I have any pics of it. And the guy I sold it to destroyed it so I can't even track it down.

Ok, at it again today. Got everything in the cabinet to glass bead. Everything came out great. Now I have to clean everything up with detergent n water. Also will have to chase the threads just in case there's any reminants left. After that, we are ready for paint then rebuild.

So there's some more parts that were done today. Only thing left is the cases, cylinder, head n 2nd coat on intake manifold. Hopefully I can get started on that stuff tomorrow. That's the stock ride plate for now. Probably going to get an AM one in the near future. The Yamaha letters on the exhaust are going to stand out more also. I have a few ideas up my sleeve.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Engine is starting to get some color. Still has to get a couple more coats. Then flip it and get the bottom. Hardware is going to be black, so it should pop out pretty good off the white.

image.jpeg Here's another pic of the engine. Coming along smoothly. Still taking a little longer than I thought . Hoping to get some more parts soon to start putting pieces together. Almost time to start on the hull.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Pump is all together. New Oem bearings, seals and WSM housing. Impeller is the stocker. Everyone was stating the 08+ ones were very good, so I stayed with it for now so I can spend the cash somewhere else. Also the reeds are switched out for some Carbon Tech "low tension" ones. Engine parts are all painted. Cylinders are bored for the new Pro-X pistons. Mild exhaust porting to clean up the high spots on the cyl to sleeve area. All engine parts came in except for crank. Had to take apart an engine for a core but John "little franny" helped me out with that so I can get the ball rolling faster. It's on order, so when that comes in, it's engine building time. Once that is done, I will start on the body. Getting there.

Well back at it again. It’s been a little over a year since my last post. I had some stuff that came up in life and everything is turning full circle again to get things back to the normal. One of the things you’ll see from the pics is a new location. I moved in with my girlfriend now wife and she gave me full power of the garage. So I’m making some changes to my build idea but it’s still going to be good.

I started opening up the deck to check all the lines and seal everything back up. To my surprise (not really) some of the foam was still wet n the ski hasn’t seen water in about 5 years. Yes it is a messy job but it wasn’t that bad to pull out the foam. Just patience and time. Yes I’m not doing foot wells as you can see. I thought about it. I probably will never get to the ocean in my new riding area. Still close, but I like carving and ripping around turns. With that I have some custom Jet Trim mats and a prowatercraft rear extension coming. I would like to perfect my fast carving better and this would probably be my best solution. 552C105C-F791-4E74-BFEA-3A5617A3EA5F.jpegE49EFFBC-40A1-4448-99BD-F8CB9BB8E87D.jpeg6AF2F7F8-8678-496F-8087-F4F7E3EAF8BC.jpeg1927FBA9-1259-4417-8ED0-8C6F3CA90492.jpeg41DA2DB8-7724-42B7-A929-36D76F2193F1.jpeg

Trying to come up with a drain plug idea using a stock Yamaha plug. I’m going to use 2 part foam at the end when everything is sealed up. 1 idea I have it to put in a pvc tube in and fiberglass it up to the rear. Kinda like the versa plug idea and scupper but I want to be able to plug and unplug at my own discretion. I will have a bilge pump so it will be able to get most of the water out that gets in while riding. The drain is probably going to be mostly used when I’m cleaning it. Also got some bilgekote in white to paint up my engine compartment. Yeah it’s going to need attention to keep clean with the white engine and hull but I do that anyway.

thanks, she’s rough but it was a ski that was unmolested so it had a good base and I didn’t feel bad about ripping it apart
