Freestyle 300 SX build FINISHED!

Im hoping to glass up the tray and footholds today after I finish shaping the foam from last night. Stay tuned for progress pics.

Now for what I need in a bad way:

Start stop switch
mod b pipe chamber
waterbox? maybe an aftermarket 550 box? or a factory pipe sj box
RN chin pad. I dont care about condition, Im going to shave it down and turf it.

It seems Im down to the last of the hardest parts to get your hands on :(

I bought a chamber directly from factory pipe, ordered turf and more resin. Can anyone suggest a set of sponsons for this? I tried to contact epcot21 on eBay for a set of his foam ones to glass in but didn't get a reply. Still seeking a start stop switch and chin pad.

Cool, I sent him a pm. Soon it will be time to start guessing at props. I have a feeling the solas 15/20 that's in there might just work being that the boat is so light. I'm going to try it before I buy anything else. I kind of want to try a 9/17 skat.

today I put down the carbon kevlar on the sides, I made a template and cut it to fit the whole inside side panel. 2 layers each side, with clear laminating epoxy resin. I used a bondo spreader to move the resin and found it worked well and didnt disturb the weave. I have a saturation roller, but really didnt need it for this. After the last side I did is dry tomorrow, Ill move on to the bottom. It looks like I will have enough to wrap the pole. Pics tomorrow.

Bottom is done! Had to go to a party, but pics when I get back. I love it, it makes it look like the entire hull is carbon Kevlar. Hopefully it will be strong enough. The orange went dark red once it took in the resin.

Hooker 10/16 on the way as per Daves advice, and the last piece of the puzzle, an x-metal side exhaust outlet. Im going to wire my old Kawi switch to work with this. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for making this work?

uuuuggghh! Got my b pipe chamber today. This gas tank will never work. I just bought a 900stx drive shaft to get back almost another 2 inches. Hopefully this will help. And why is a 2.5 gallon kart tank so hard to find?

If anyone has a RN tank with internal filler for sale, shoot me a PM.

More progress, got my ATP waterbox today, wow is that thing a work of art! Im going to hate to cut the feet off it, but it will be sitting on turf and strapped down. 900 stx driveshaft is due here tomorrow, I extended my mount plates back 2 inches tonight so Im ready for the new placement. Kart tank is due here tomorrow too, so Ill get pics up after I see how it all fits. The next obstacle will be the side exhaust fitting with sposons and making pipe from the waterbox to the outlet.

Minor problem... my research said the 900stx and 750sx shafts would interchange. from splines to bearing surface is about a 3/4 inch difference, so i not getting full contact on the bulkhead bearing. The 900 is longer back there and shorter up front. The only thing I can think of is cut the 3/4 off the splined end and have the splines re cut so it will fit all the way into the prop. Otherwise, this is going to be the perfect spot, everything else clears up front so far.

After some super careful dremel work the splines are extended and I lopped off the end of the shaft. Now there is good bearing contact and motor placement is perfect. today I will do the last of the glass work and build a battery tray and something to hold down the gas tank and waterbox.

Mad progress! everything is in epoxy and baking now. Im taking it to work to use a "good booth" maybe tomorrow or the night after. I want to be able to hang it up when I spray it since there is no bond line up front to break it off.

I stayed late at work tonight and got this done, Its on the first bake cycle. Im going to bake it 2 times so I can take it home tonight. sand and buff tomorrow and build this weekend. I cant wait. The paint is 3 coats of PPG concept DCC single stage, and 2 coats of PPG DCU2021 clear mixed 1:1 with the color. It should have a really deep gloss after its all buffed out.

Thanks, I'm a little let down that the carbon Kevlar went so red after I wet it out. I really hopes it would have stayed the color it was, then it all would have matched.
