Hood pics

Its not done yet but here is what Travis and I have done so Far:

The front was chopped out for racing but the plan is to fill that in completly and drill a few 1/2 holes in it for air.

Removed the Liner

Carefull the liner is sharp after you cut it. I did a number on my finger there but superglue fixes everything.

Heres the handholds. We are gonna put some homemade 360 domes in there. Also we shaved the ridge down.

Heres the back we chopped the round section off that goes over the rails. It will be inline with the seam of the hull and air will come from the holes above the dash. These corners will be sealed

Full Credit for the Penis drawing goes to travis. In no way will that be part of the hood when its finished.

Also when we put the liner back on the front section and the rear section that were two seperate parts stock, will be glassed as one section so water has a better chance to drain out the rear holes. With two seperate parts the water has no choice but to drain into the engine compartment.

I have first hand experience with this being true...lol

yea you helped me decide to do that. It was acuttly travis idea. then we looked at the the Stock Superjet liner and thats how those are to (all one section). It just makes more sense. With it all one section the water has a much better chance at escaping rather then going right down the tubes into the engine compartment.

Paint Ideas

I am looking for a really BRIGHT neon green to paint the top deck with. If anyone has any pics and paint codes post it up.

I want something like this but more green instead of yellow

I used the spray foam on my 550 when i did footholds. A couple years later i dug into the foam and it was good and solid. It works fine.

Sorry to tell you this so late, but if you use a heat gun or even a really hot hairdryer, the vinyl graphics peel off really easily. No need for razors and fingernails.

Update: EVERYTHING I NEED IS ORDERED OR HERE
- The Turfed Rail extensions are on there way
- High roller pole will be mid of january, Bill is working on a diffrent brackt for the 750

-The Hood is nearly complete just a few more peices of glass in one spot then on to filling and sanding

- After buying 2 quarts of paint i think i finally found one i like. I found a spray can of Grabber Green Duplicolor engine enamal. I painted a cut up piece of a couch and will take it to carquest today. Hopefully they can mix me some auto paint in that color. If not the top deck might be done with spray car with professional clear over it.
___ ps if you need any green i have two spare quarts one is chrysler sublime green, and the other is a custom kawi green___

Bad news i dont think i will be riding daytona unless i put my unpainted stock pole on just for one or two rides. I Really want to just finish the build all at once and not back track.

Just go get a 99 cent can of spray paint from walmart and paint that pole for daytona. Can't take more than an hour or two to paint it and reinstall everything onto it.

well i will be there for sure just not sure if i will be riding my ski or not.

Carquest couldt scan my painted panel. So i will be using spray can for the top deck with professional automotive clear over top of it. I may paint the stock pole and put it on we will see but my high roller pole comes with a completly new bracket and gas door.

John are you riding daytona??? also i might be buying samba's MSD enhancer with a lightned flywheel. what do you think?

Glass reenforcing and carbon fiber tomorrow. I spent most of the day sanding the inside of the hull and the rest of the day at carquest.

My plan is to go to Daytona. I'm just not sure whether I'll go down Friday or Saturday.

Also, I think you'll be a whole lot happier with total loss than you would with a lightened flywheel and an MSD enhancer. I've ridden with a stock lightened flywheel... You could tell the difference but it wasn't the OMG this is amazing feeling you get from total loss. It took me weeks to install/troubleshoot my total loss and it was worth every second.

Ignition:
I am going with the enhancer i found one for a good price. and i already bought a lightened stock flywheel.

Update:
Glass reinforcement is done. i will post pics up tomorrow. some more 36 grit sanding will take place and the carbon fiber will go in sometime this week. Plan is to paint it over MLK cause we get a few extra days off of work. I know it wont be ready for daytona. We cant use the booth this coming weekend so SOL i guess.

POLE:
if anyone needs a stock Kawi pole i will have one for sale as soon as my high roller pole arrives or my ski is together.

ya we have a booth on base we can use. We got air but none of the filters or water seperators. So its just easier that way and we got forced air so thats a little better for the health if it matters. lol

Wow that must be nice... I need to see what resources the AF base here has in their "hobby shop". I just drain the water out of my tank, set the regulator at about the right pressure and eye ball it on the gun from there... Yeah it's not the most professional way but then again, I'm not creating a show ski and I think it came out pretty well. :shhh:

Gotta have the respirator though...whether you're in a booth or not.

yes sir, the booth we use is really dyncorp's booth. There a civilian company that reworks some of our gear. However our paintcrew uses the same booth as well and since Travis is the Paint crew supervisor we can go use it in our off time. works good. We dont have one open to the base like the auto hobby shop but perhaps the airforce does they get all the money any way. lol

I talked to Bill today and he is trying to get my pole and bracket to me at daytona so i got my fingers crossed. But unless we get painted we wont ride daytona but atleast the weekend after at hugenot or something.
