video of my trainers prepping for the Team Regional Competition next month in Jax. :woot:

still loving me some Crossfit...finally got my kipping pull up....12 ft rope climb....24 inch box jump (scared of busting my face for SO long) and finally going up to some big girl weights on my oly lifts.

and finally got my first 5K under my belt :Banane25:

not supposed to run or jump right now since I did some nerve damage to my right shin/ankle during a failed "snatch" attempt....nothing like SLAMMING a 35 lb bar into your leg with crazy intensity...and still landing on your a$$ in front of everyone....fun times.

Been doing it about 5 weeks now at the school rec center. Ive only focused on strength for so long it has taken a while for me to get used to the intensity.

Generally speaking i can do the rx'd workouts but it takes twice what some of the average times are but i am slowly starting to turn it around.

Found a new cross fit 5 mins. from the house...Went for the first time on Tues. Going again tonight. I think this might just be what I was looking for.

awesome!!! keep with it!

.

yeah.....been at it almost 7 months now and I am just now getting to where I can up my intensity and do heavier weights.

Tuesday night was my first time ever doing real pull ups in a WOD.....20 of them!!! My right hand ripped and bled like a mofo....all over the bar...finished up my last 3 reps and went over to my kb swings...bled all over it until someone brought over some tape. I was in the zone! haha

today's workout will suck....pull ups and push presses....tape will be my friend since a huge chunk is gone from my right palm

STICK WITH IT ....you guys will see a difference.....just be patient. I look at newbies coming into our gym and I am like dang.....I really have come a long way since I started.

I am in the best shape of my life and I LOVE working out.....never thought I would say that.

been eating zone/paleo the last 2 1/2 weeks.....feel great! :Banane25:

I still do at least 2 cheat meals a week.

managed to get in 10 rounds of Cindy a week or so ago.

Cindy is as many rounds in 20 minutes of:

5 pull-ups
10 push ups
15 air squats

so I managed to do 50 pull-ups and only had a small rip on my right hand  Finally getting the hang of this stuff.

Also made the " leader board" a few weeks ago...I now have the fastest "Annie" time of any women in our gym.....boo ya!

Annie is:
50-40-30-20-10 Double unders and situps and I managed it in 6:54. Would have done faster but I had to stop to take my shoes off when they came untied...then had the WORST shin splints ever from double unders on that concrete floor.

Also moving up in weight on my deadlifts, push jerks, and cleans.

nice i did a workout today.

5 pull ups
10 push ups
15 squats

15 rounds

9:58 and it beat the crap out of me

Awesome!!! You just do it in your garage or do you belong to a box?

I can't do Paleo for the life of me( I refuse to give up dairy, but would sacrifice gluten).

Dairy is tough....but I wasn't a huge dairy fan so it hasn't been as big as just no sweets. I use ghee butter a lot for my fat and that stuff tastes way better than normal butter.

I have been super strict for the last 13 days......managing only 1 cheat meal. Still no beer and won't be drinking any booze until after a Crossfit competition in Memphis the first week of August. I decided to humor myself (and others) and signed up to compete in the beginner division.

Crazy what happens when you clean up your eating......finally linking my pull-ups......upping my weights in met-cons....and just feeling so much better in general.

Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!

The husband and I competed in our first EVER Crossfit competition in Memphis over the weekend.........

doing crazy WODs in 100 degree heat....FUN!!!! :lmao:

It is amazing what adrenaline will help you do when you need it.

If you are doing Crossfit and you have never competed...DO IT!!!!! It was a blast and painful all at the same time.

oh yeah....almost been a year since starting...so much for lazy punks that think you can't handle it just because they couldn't.

I began ballet lessons at age three (in Alabama, lol)!! I didn’t live there long at all, but I kept up with my lessons (gymnastics and tap as well). You should try ballet; it makes you extremely strong, and when choreographed to beautiful music, it can work wonders for your soul as well! Men seem to enjoy watching it when done well too, as the exquisite first link below shows! Plus, it keeps you from looking like a she-man, and stronger than many as well (it can help make your butt look better too)! :cheer:

Even many professional football players endorse dance, in addition to their specified training (The Wall Street Journal can be informative at times)!

thanks but ballet isn't going to make me stronger......unless I need the strength to plie sometime soon. Plus I have a nice man already...no need to dance around for men to gawk. Crossfit makes me stronger OVERALL and it helps in daily life. Ballet isn't going to do that. If I need to help unload something like a ski I have the strength to do that now.

I am creating lean muscle mass. Lifting weights does NOT make you bulky and manly. Women seem to think that muscle mass is not a good thing...and that is why women's bones turn to crap and they think taking calcium chews will solve all their problems. Lifting weights is great for women.

I enjoy deadlifting heavy ass weight .....I like that feeling of lifting and getting dizzy from it being so heavy. I am happy sweating my ass off and lifting heavy :):):):) and nothing is better for your booty than heavy deadlifts and tons of squats. Crossfit girls have some of the nicest butts I have ever seen. I enjoy pushing my body to the extreme....and sorry ballet isn't going to give me that feeling.

I am not arguing against what you are doing with weights. I use to press my own weight 12 reps, and many men can not say that (many can, and they can say more). Also, you can dance for you hubby, was my thought of course, lol. Ballet will make you extremely strong indeed, and equally important, it will also make you limber.

You can combine the two was my thought…balance them, and as I mentioned, the music is quite beneficial (not all music/preference of course). My point was that you can mix your workouts (as Tumble had politely hinted to you as well). Here is another link, inexpensive book, but there are many. Just check it out and decide for yourself, after you check it out (and you owe me no apology, but thank you all the same).

I gave it more thought:

My focus was not weightlifting, my focus was dance (and def not stripper stuff of course, lol, not my type of thing as most know)! I personally had no desire to look buff in an unnatural way; I am sure I could have, and you can personally end up looking that way, if you are not careful (perhaps that is what you desire, so no offense). I personally quit hard training of all forms when I was a few years younger than you (I think you are 29 or something/not sure of course/I don’t know you/never even talked to you other than once/twice, very briefly), out of necessity (had a hernia/born with it/did all my years with it/not knowing). I wish I had continued after the surgery, but I did not (I hung out in Jamaica, lol). I have not properly trained since, merely remained athletic instead (I ski now). I didn’t have to, because I had worked out so very hard when younger. I am probably about to pick it back up though, when I have more time. On that note: hyper extensions are actually a bad thing, this is why I suggest to balance all. Also, I use to lease a room to a former Mr. USA (Masters), so I am familiar with weight lifting and proper nutrition. As I mentioned, gymnastics is another alternative (I loved it); I merely offered to you what I thought could be most beneficial overall. Take it or leave it of course…I posted it for the benefit of all.

Leasing a room to someone that was knowledgeable doesn't mean you actually know what you are talking about. I have several coaches that are certified in what I am doing (and diet as well) and I have done my own research and I am also ACTIVELY participating in the activity.

You don't get bulky "if you are not careful". Women lack the hormone to indeed bulk up(testosterone). Those big, bulky women are taking supplements to look like that. Lifting weights on a daily basis and living a normal life is NOT going to make a woman bulky. Some women do have the tendency to look more "athletic" than other women but that isn't the same as bulking up.

Researching something before you post it for the "benefit" of all would be something you might want to consider. Crap info like that is why women are scared of weights. (click on the link I posted). Unless you want to look that way it isn't going to happen.

And Crossfit actually is based on gymnastic movements AND strength....so I am covering my bases.
